I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 594

"Mr. Thorne?"

"Book a hypnotherapist for me."

Colin was completely bewildered, but he only dared to execute Hayden's orders, not question them.

Hayden tossed his phone onto his desk in frustration.

Zoe had been infected by a parasite? Quentin really ought to quit medicine and write fantasy novels.

But the theory that she was poisoned with a toxin that affected her brainโ€”that actually sounded plausible.

The only explanation Hayden could stomach was hypnosis or poisoning. He absolutely refused to accept Quentin's theory that Zoe had simply regained her memories.

If the fall had restored her memory, then what were their five years of marriage? Just her sleepwalking?

For the first time ever, Hayden lost sleep over Zoe.

That night, he stayed alone at the Highland Retreat. The mountain breeze scattered countless petals across the courtyard.

For the past five years, he had never known that Zoe's favorite flower was the Lily of the Valley, which was why their daughter was named Lily.

He didn't know her preferences, but he vividly remembered every unreasonable thing she had doneโ€”the suicide attempts, the tantrums, the endless drama.

He found her annoying and infuriating. Hayden violently crushed his last cigarette into the ashtray.

The ashtray was already overflowing. He loosened his tie, feeling like it was the only way to alleviate the suffocating tightness in his chest.

Hayden didn't close his eyes once that entire night.

The next morning, he left for the Fort Hamilton Command Center at the crack of dawn.

When his secretary called for his itinerary, Hayden bluntly replied that he wouldn't be returning to the corporate office for a while.

Zoe's car arrived precisely on time. Hayden had already been waiting at the base for over half an hour.

Director Yates, Harvey Sterling, and several engineers stepped out of the vehicle.

The Sentinel AI Units, developed independently by her company, were gradually entering the testing phase, and Zoe was incredibly busy.

Hayden watched with cold, darkening eyes as she laughed and chatted amiably with the engineers, Timothy, and Harvey.

"Ms. Lynd, a word."

Anyone with eyes could see how terrible Hayden's expression was.

Zoe reminded herself that Hayden's only leverage over her right now was their existing marriage certificate.

Not wanting to cause a bigger scene, she offered Timothy and Harvey an apologetic smile. "I'll be right there. Director Yates, please take everyone to the server room first."

Timothy looked somewhat disappointed.

He would have preferred Zoe completely ignore Hayden's unreasonable demands.

They were supposed to be separated anyway, which meant a divorce was just around the corner.

"Spit it out. I don't have time to waste," Zoe said, her face full of impatience.

Hayden stared at her for several seconds, desperately searching her face for any trace of the woman who had loved him for five years.

Unfortunately, Zoe's eyes were clear and bright, entirely devoid of the past.

Hayden's frustration peaked, his gaze turning somber.

"Do you want to know what happened during our five years of marriage?"

Zoe crossed her arms, looking at him in amusement. "Commander Thorne, is that really necessary? The person you're talking about wasn't me. And if it was, I wouldn't hesitate to slap my past self for being so blind."
