I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 593

Hayden hit a wall with Zoe and drove straight back to Thorne Enterprises.

Colin Zachs wasn't around; instead, Justice Jordan was waiting for him respectfully.

"Mr. Thorne, Chairwoman Winters came by looking for you again this afternoon," Justice reported. After he had blocked Sienna's number, her calls still showed up on his call log.

He had no choice but to wait here for Hayden. If Sienna showed up at the office, he would be the first to suffer her wrath.

"Got it."

Hayden gave a clipped, two-word response without asking any follow-up questions, allowing Justice to leave with peace of mind.

Instead of calling to verify Justice's words, Hayden summoned Quentin Muir.

"What kind of illness does Zoe have?"

It was an abrupt question, but Quentin sighed in relief that Hayden had finally noticed something was wrong with his wife.

Quentin took a seat across from Hayden, crossing his long legs, looking completely at ease.

"She isn't sick. Can't you tell she didn't lose her memory, but rather regained her past memories?"

Hayden's dark eyes trembled slightly as he weighed the meaning behind Quentin's words.

"Then what was the meaning of the last five years? Was the woman I married just an empty shell?"

Quentin rubbed the bridge of his nose and dropped a bombshell.

"I don't know if you believe in the occult. Of course, I'm a doctor, and we should trust in science."

Hayden barely held his temper in check. Quentin was dragging out the suspense with too much theatricality. Hayden shot him a predatory gaze, the warning in his eyes unmistakable.

If Quentin dared to spout one more nonsensical word, he was going to need a good lawyer.

Quentin shrugged. "Without evidence, I can't prove it's not a fairy tale. Medically speaking, you could view it as her being poisoned with a mind-altering toxin that confused her neural pathways, causing bizarre behavior and actions contrary to her true nature. The incidence rate of something like this is microscopic, but the Bayou Regions are full of mysterious herbs and unrecorded toxins.

It wouldn't be strange if someone with ulterior motives fed it to her. Think about it. She's your ex-girlfriend's sister. Do you really have no impression of her true personality? Do you honestly believe she would fight over a man so pathetically that she turned herself into a subservient slave?

Mr. Thorne, what era are we living in? That kind of archaic, subservient mindset wouldn't appear in any normal, modern woman unless she was genuinely ill."

Hayden's silence suggested he was actually digesting Quentin's theory. Just as Quentin was about to leave, Hayden suddenly spoke up.

"You should quit medicine and become a psychic."

Quentin turned back to retort, but the office door slammed shut with a loud bang, making him jump.

Hayden sank deeply into his leather sofa, his temples throbbing relentlessly.

He pondered in silence for a moment before picking up his phone to call Colin Zachs.
