I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 598

Was she—

Disgusted that he touched her?

Hayden flared with anger, his tone dripping with heavy sarcasm.

"We've slept together countless times, and now you're acting repulsed just because I touched your arm? If you aren't disgusted by Garrett, why did you have kids with me?"

Smack!

A resounding slap landed squarely on Hayden's face.

Zoe remained as calm as still water, glaring at him with deadened eyes.

"The kids aren't yours. And as for you, I'm not just disgusted. I despise you."

Hayden forced his fury down. Seeing that he was still blocking her path, Zoe spoke in a low, warning tone. "Commander Thorne, if we stay in here any longer, they'll come looking for us. Are you absolutely sure you want everyone to know about our shameful relationship?"

A knot of anger twisted in Hayden's chest.

She actually called their marriage a shameful relationship.

Did that mean her relationship with Garrett was something to be proud of?

"I called you in here not just to sign the papers, but to tell you the hypnotherapist has arrived. We can go right now."

Zoe hadn't planned on engaging with him further.

But she was afraid he would keep causing a scene.

"Fine. Let's go."

Only then did Hayden step aside.

Zoe called Timothy, explaining that she needed to step out for a bit to handle some business with Hayden.

Timothy instantly felt a surge of anxiety.

"Ms. Lynd, where are you going? Do you want me to accompany you?"

Harvey overheard and immediately chimed in.

"I'm coming too."

"..."

Zoe didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

"Director Yates, you guys should continue with the AI testing. I'll need the diagnostic reports when I get back." Timothy asked blankly, "You're coming back later?"

"She didn't return to the office."

Garrett gripped his phone so tightly his knuckles turned white.

What kind of psychotic stunt was Hayden pulling now?

He ended the call with Timothy and immediately dialed Zoe.

It rang for an agonizingly long time before it was finally answered—but the voice on the other end belonged to Hayden.

Zoe had followed Hayden to Thorne Enterprises, straight up to his private office.

Dr. Julian Aris had arrived early, and Zoe was already lying down on the bed in the private suite attached to Hayden's office.

She didn't have much interest in the events of the past five years, but since Hayden was so obsessed with it, she figured this was the fastest way to make him give up for good.

She, Zoe Lynd, could never fall in love with a man like him.

Their first meeting might have been striking, but after learning what kind of person he truly was, she would have to be brain-damaged to want him.

What kind of woman would willingly marry a man who was obsessed with someone else? And why would she surrender all her income just to compete for his scraps of affection?

That was probably the only thing Zoe genuinely wanted to understand—why she had acted so insanely back then. Perhaps hypnosis could provide the answer, but it certainly wasn't going to be the catalyst that sent her running back into Hayden's arms.
