The man knew Hayden was still listening and hadn't hung up.

He chuckled, looking even more smug.

"You heard me. One billion, not a penny less. Buddy, you and I aren't so different.

You're just some fake husband the Kendalls hired to cover up their son's scandal, right?

I've heard this Mr. Kendall is ruthless in business but useless with women. Is this brat really yours and that Lynd woman's? Just a cover-up?"

"A cover-up."

Hayden emphasized those words heavily.

"Is it because the Kendall guy can't perform, so they had the Lynd woman sleep with you for your seed? You must be pretty bitter about it. Tell me the truth, how much are the Kendalls paying you? My wife says you're good-looking and built solid. You've got potential.

Why don't you come work with me? I'll introduce you to some rich older women. You handle the stud work, I'll handle the kidnapping. We team up, and we'll be filthy rich in no time."

Hayden gripped his phone with a predatory gaze, deliberately drawing out his response.

"Oh? And what's your plan, man?"

His phone was tapped into the police surveillance system. The goal was to keep the kidnapper talking long enough to trace his location.

This guy was either completely brainless or high on his own adrenaline. Or maybe he was just incredibly arrogant, assuming a family like the Kendalls valued human life over money.

As long as the hostage was safe, they wouldn't care how much they spent.

Coincidentally, Mr. Kendall Sr. and Sylvia thought exactly the same way.

"I just told you, come work with me. How about it? Opportunities like this don't come knocking twice. But let's get one thing straight—you keep your hands off my wife.

The man couldn't help but laugh triumphantly.

Julie, however, was still on edge. It was her first time doing something like this, and she didn't share her husband's careless confidence.
