Yara Quinn still didn't understand.
If Zoe could go find Hayden, why couldn't she?
"I need to protect her. Mr. Kendall, please move aside."
Yara found Garrett a bit annoying now.
She hated having her plans interrupted while she was on the clock.
Garrett couldn't tell if she was genuinely clueless or faking it. In his desperation, he blurted out, "Officer Quinn, have you never been in a relationship?"
That finally riled Yara up.
Her face flushed. "That is my private life. I don't have to answer you."
"..."
Garrett felt a wave of helplessness. "Miss, I'm not prying into your personal life. I'm just telling you, if sparks fly between Hayden and Zoe tonight, it's really inappropriate for you to be there."
That was blunt enough. Surely she understood now?
Yara blinked. "You mean Zoe might set Hayden's house on fire? I can't let that happen."
"..."
Garrett immediately regretted it. If he really pursued Yara, would their future children inherit this kind of density?
"That's not what I meant. I mean things between a man and a woman." He couldn't bring himself to explain further. Yara's face went from pale to bright red, then back to pale again.
She slowly backed away and pulled out her phone to call Zoe.
"Zoe, I'm on standby. Call me if you need anything." Garrett finally let out a sigh of relief.
Thank God, she could at least understand basic human instructions.
Yara took a few steps away, then turned back.
"You're overthinking it, Mr. Kendall."
She gave Garrett a serious look. "Your feelings for Zoe aren't romantic, and Zoe isn't interested in you either, right?"
"?"
At first, Garrett thought Yara was just trying to get back at him.
Then she added, completely deadpan, "You don't understand Zoe at all. She would never get back together with Hayden."
If she would, Hayden wouldn't have gone to such great lengths to have Yara seduce Garrett, attempting to break up Garrett and Zoe's supposed relationship.
Over the past while, Yara had noticed the clues. It wasn't what Hayden thought.
She felt nothing for Garrett, so naturally, nothing came of it.
Garrett was speechless.
Was that really the point he was trying to argue with Yara? Yara ended up staying behind.
Garrett's ego took a massive hit, and he returned to his room in low spirits.
Sylvia Kendall looked at him in confusion. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing," Garrett replied flatly.
He was her son; Sylvia could easily see his disappointment.
