I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 673

"Oh, right, there is one other option. If you want to rent a room, that's fine too. Sign this. You can pay monthly, or yearlyβ€”three million dollars a year."

Before Hayden could answer, the door slammed shut again.

The contract fluttered to the ground.

Three pages were covered in dense, tiny text. Hayden didn't even bother reading it. He was about to toss it into the trash, but then thought better of it and picked it back up.

Colin Zachs stood to the side, trying to suppress a laugh.

"Pen." Colin paused for a second before handing one over.

He watched as Hayden signed his name at the bottom.

Colin's mouth twitched.

Was this really the Mr. Thorne he knew? "Knock on the door."

Hayden glared at Colin. Colin pointed at his own nose. He wanted him to knock?

Under Hayden's intense stare, Colin had no choice but to bite the bullet.

Zoe came to open the door. Seeing Colin, her icy expression softened slightly.

Before she could even speak, Hayden stepped inside.

He placed the signed contract in front of Zoe. "It's signed. Which room is mine?"

Colin was quick on his feet. "Ma'am, I've escorted Mr. Thorne here. I'll take my leave now."

He vanished into the night in an instant.

Zoe was speechless.

Hayden sat down on the sofa, looking perfectly at ease as he gazed at Zoe. "Ms. Lynd, do you have any other orders? You're not going to make me work for you as a security guard, are you?"

Zoe's lips curled into a smirk. That actually wasn't a bad idea.

A biological father was always more reliable than a stranger.

"Lily needs to be dropped off and picked up every day. I have to go to the Fort Hamilton Command Center, so I don't have time."

Hayden nodded. "I can handle that. I can drop her off and then head to the command center."

Zoe gave him a look. "Ian is barely a year old. He can't be left alone."

She just wanted to dump Hayden at home, preferably keeping him away from the base so he wouldn't be an eyesore.

Aside from talking about work, he was constantly finding excuses to get handsy with her when no one was looking.

Zoe couldn't just beat him up in public all the time.

Hayden continued nodding. "Alright. No problem."

Zoe blinked.

He agreed that easily?

He really wasn't going to the base?

"So, do you have any other orders, Ms. Lynd? If not, I'm going to bed. I have work tomorrow."

Hayden made a show of walking upstairs.

Zoe watched him, feeling like he was being entirely too compliant. He seemed a little untrustworthy.

"The room I'm staying in doesn't have a bathroom. I might need to borrow your shower later. Any objections?"

Zoe scoffed, crossing her arms and eyeing him coldly.

"Of course not."

Hayden nodded and disappeared at the top of the stairs.

Zoe grabbed her bag and, without a second's hesitation, took her car out, turned right, and left.

Hayden grabbed his clothes and headed to the master bedroom. The entire villa felt dead silent. Then, he heard the sound of an engine in the driveway.

Zoe's car had driven away.
