He sat back down and clamped a cigarette between his lips.
In seconds, a cloud of smoke surrounded him, veiling him in a dark, elusive aura.
"Next time?"
He scoffed coldly.
There would never be a next time.
Refusing to leave without a straight answer, Quentin loitered in the living room.
"Zoe."
Quentin's brain practically short-circuited as he stared in absolute disbelief.
Hayden impatiently repeated himself.
"Zoe dislocated my wrist. Are you happy now? Get the hell out."
The next day, Hayden walked into a private VIP poker room.
His wrist was wrapped in a bandage, at Quentin's strict insistence.
That simple detail caused the other men in the room to literally spit out their drinks in laughter.
"Never thought I'd see the almighty Hayden Thorne in a cast."
Besides Quentin, the high-stakes table included Ethan Montgomery, the heir of the Montgomery Group; Ian Varley, fresh off a luxury yacht in Dubai; and an uninvited guestโAsher Kendall.
The room held the most powerful billionaires of the global business empire. Getting them all at one table was incredibly rare.
"A wild mare isn't easy to tame. You gotta bleed a little for the ride,"
Asher traced the rim of his glass, smirking coldly.
He held absolutely zero affection for Hayden's wife.
Hayden ignored him, locking his icy gaze straight onto Quentin.
"When did you quit being a doctor to become a gossiping housewife?"
It was obvious Quentin had sold him out for their entertainment.
Colin had just dropped Hayden off and was heading out to wait when Zoe called his phone.
"Mrs. Thorneโ"
These ruthless billionaires, who controlled global markets and crushed enemies without blinking, turned into absolute softies for the women they loved.
In fact, Hayden was the only one who actually hated his wife.
Ian's and the other guys' partners had heard the legendary tale of how Zoe chased Hayden down, and they practically worshipped her as a goddess.
Colin shot a nervous glance at Hayden. The boss remained expressionless, casually sliding a stack of chips into the pot.
"No problem, ma'am. Is there anything else you need me to handle?"
This was incredibly rare. For the first time in five years, Zoe wasn't calling to hunt down Hayden.
Given how obsessed Mr. Thorne had been lately, Colin knew he had to figure out exactly where she was going.
Otherwise, he would be fired by tomorrow morning.
"No, thanks. I'm heading back to the Lynd estate to visit my uncle and grandmother."
The faint crease between Hayden's brows vanished, and he coldly checked his hole cards, shooting a lethal glare at the other men eavesdropping from across the poker table.
"Are you gentlemen always this fascinated by other people's wives?"
