Through the curtain of rain, Julian rolled down his window halfway, his demeanor entirely respectful.
Gillian wasn't going to be dramatic about this; she refused to put her own body through hell. She needed to take good care of her health after her abortion procedure.
After getting in, Julian quickly drove her home.
Susan had already prepared dinner. Since her return, the house no longer felt as desolate as it used to.
"The boss had someone catch a free-range chicken up in the mountains today. It's incredibly nutritious, so I made a stew to help you regain your strength. Ma'am, is your morning sickness still acting up?"
Susan had been genuinely happy for Gillian when she found out about the pregnancy. Now that the lady of the house was pregnant, the master's attention was visibly focused back on the home.
Gillian shook her head, sitting down to eat her meal.
By the time she returned to her room, Valery had already sent her a list of top-tier investors.
"These are all tycoons who have shown interest in medical investments. You can try reaching out to them. If you can't get through, just come with me next time I have to interview them for a news piece."
Getting her hands on this list and their contact info was no easy feat. Gillian thanked Valery profusely.
It was getting a bit too late today, so Gillian decided to contact the executives tomorrow.

Late that night, the temperature plummeted. It was freezing, and a sharp pain flared up in Gillian's lower abdomen. She lay in bed, clutching her stomach, breaking out in a cold sweat.
The pain made her entire body go weak. She flipped on the lights to look for some painkillers, her face growing deathly pale.
Opening the door to the storage room, she saw it was packed with baby supplies. Diapers, formula, and tiny outfits for both boys and girls in a variety of styles filled the space.
Gillian felt a violent clenching in her chest.
She hadn't prepared any of this—it had to be York.
She held a tiny, incredibly soft onesie in her hands. The tightening agony in her abdomen grew worse. Forcing herself to ignore the emotional torment, she turned to leave, but her steps were incredibly unsteady.
She stumbled and nearly fell, but a strong, firm hand caught her arm, accompanied by a crisp, intoxicating scent.
Gillian looked up and saw York's face, meeting his deep, pitch-black eyes.
