Gillian took a deep breath, keeping her eyes fixed on him. "I'm not threatening you. I'm just fighting for what I want."
York stared at her, his expression utterly venomous. "So you are absolutely dead set on not coming back with me. You want to break away from me and live out here on your own."
This woman had actually grown bold enough to threaten him like this.
"Yes." Gillian's stance was uncompromising. She refused to back down.
The man let out a cold scoff. Nobody had ever dared to defy him to his face like this.
He took one step forward, and Gillian immediately pressed the fruit knife hard into her wrist.
Bright red blood instantly seeped out from her fair skin.
York's gaze darkened terrifyingly. He froze in his tracks, staring fixedly at her hand. "Gillian!"
He was visibly furious now. Gillian knew exactly why. He was angry because she was being disobedient and uncooperative.
And he was angry because she was no longer under his control.
Gillian gripped the handle tight and slashed the blade down again, carving another deep line. Blood instantly ran down her hand, dripping onto the floor.
"I know you hate me. You hate that I fought tooth and nail to marry you back then."
"Now you're trapping me by your side, refusing to divorce me. You demanded terms, and I agreed to your deal."
Gillian's voice remained incredibly steady. She endured the sharp sting in her wrist, though her lips were gradually losing their color. "But there is no love between us. There is no reason to force us to live under the same roof. Me being at the house only gets in the way of you and Hailey."
"Doesn't Hailey love the house we live in? You can absolutely move her in, and then you won't have to look at me every single day."
"Didn't you used to hate seeing me waiting for you at home? Me moving out works out perfectly. It saves us both the disgust of looking at each other."
