Miles said, "If there's anything you don't understand regarding the hospital's rules and regulations, you can call me anytime."

After finishing lunch with Miles, Gillian headed straight home, anxious about her mother's condition.
When the caregiver saw Gillian return, she smiled and said, "Mrs. Jordan ate a lot for lunch today. She seems to be in a pretty good mood."
The caregiver was a kind woman from a rural town, and she took wonderful care of her mother.
"That's great. Thank you for your hard work."
Gillian sat down, watching her mother from a distance. She was sitting on the sofa, quietly watching TV. She was peaceful most of the time, though any mental triggers would send her into erratic, screaming fits.
When she was healthy, Mrs. Jordan had been a highly respected teacher, but in her current state, returning to the classroom was impossible.
When her former students found out and wanted to visit, Gillian politely turned them all away. It was too chaotic, and she feared it might trigger her mother's fragile emotions.
Staring at her mother, her thoughts began to drift, rippling outward.
She thought of her father in Blackwood Penitentiary, and her brother, missing since the car crash.
How was her father surviving the conditions in prison? She frowned, pulling out her phone to look up the legal requirements for a sentence reduction or parole.
If she could just get her father out of prison early, their family would be reunited, and she wouldn't have to keep begging York like this...
Once that happened, she could simply have a divorce lawyer draft the papers and fight him in court.
With that in mind, she found several promising avenues for parole.
She immediately called Xavier Sterling to ask about the details.
"Mr. Sterling, is this a case you'd be willing to take on for me?" Gillian asked.
The man on the other end chuckled softly. "Getting your father an early release isn't actually that difficult for me."
