I Loved You in the Dark Until Someone Loved Me in the Light novel Chapter 58

The implication was glaringly obvious. She was calling Gillian old and declaring herself young. She was suggesting the dress belonged on someone fresh and beautiful, not someone past their prime.

She might as well have tattooed the word 'old' on Gillian's forehead.

First she stole her man, now she was trying to steal her dress.

Gillian chuckled. "Since when do dresses come with an age limit? Should I point out that you look a little too naive and lack the elegance to pull this off?"

Hailey pouted slightly. "Gillian, I was just offering my opinion. I don't know why that offended you."

She bit her lip and let go of the dress, acting incredibly magnanimous. "Since you like it so much, I'll let you have it. There's no need to insult me like that."

Her dramatic concession made it look like she had suffered a terrible injustice, painting Gillian as a massive bully.

"Gill, find anything you like?"

Just as Gillian was about to retort, Miles finished his call and walked over.

Hailey looked surprised. "Oh, you came with Vice President Stanton. Picking out dresses together... sounds like we might be hearing some good news soon."

York maintained an expressionless face, seemingly unfazed by Miles and Gillian being together.

But his gaze was impossibly dark.

Gillian assumed he was just angry she had stolen a dress from his precious darling.

Miles smiled, deliberately avoiding a direct answer. He casually asked, "Dr. Sinclair, you've been pregnant for a while now. Shopping for dresses... are you preparing for an engagement, or a wedding?"

The fake sweetness completely slid off Hailey's face. She looked at York with wide, pleading eyes.

Miles knew exactly where it hurt and twisted the knife.

Naturally, York stepped in to defend her. "Vice President Stanton is a bit too invested. If there's good news, we certainly won't forget to notify you."

Miles gave a slow, nonchalant nod. "Alright. And if I have any good news, I'll be sure to notify you both as well."

York's mouth formed a tight line. He looked down at Hailey clinging to his arm. "Let's go to another boutique. The quality here isn't worthy of you."

Hearing those words, the girl absolutely beamed with joy.

Hailey clung to York's arm as they walked downstairs.
