"York, how were you even holding the umbrella? I'm completely soaked," Hailey complained, her voice dripping with grievance. She glared enviously at Gillian's perfectly dry clothes in the driver's seat. "How come Gillian didn't get wet at all?"
York leaned back against the passenger seat, his eyes closed. He remained silent, seemingly fast asleep.
Hailey had no choice but to swallow her frustration.
The car finally pulled up to the residence.
Hailey shook York awake. The alcohol had clearly hit him hard, his eyes glassy and unfocused.
"Gillian, could you help me get York inside? I can't carry him on my own."
Whenever she needed a favor, it was a sweet 'Gillian.' When she wanted to flaunt her superiority, she called her 'Dr. Jordan.'
Gillian let out a dry laugh. "Mr. Foster isn't so drunk he can't walk. If he can't handle his liquor, he shouldn't drink so much. Why make it someone else's problem?"
"He drank this much because he was taking shots for me all night," Hailey bit her lip. "Gillian, please just help me."
Gillian unbuckled her seatbelt and stepped out of the car.
Picking them up from The Glass Pavilion was already her being overly generous.
She wasn't a saint. York was dead weight, and she had no desire to risk throwing out her back just to drag him inside.
"No," Gillian refused flatly.
"Two thousand dollars. Help me upstairs," York rasped, his voice raw.
Gillian paused.
No one in their right mind would argue with money.

His condo upstairs with Hailey was decorated entirely in York's preferred style—cold, luxurious, and completely devoid of color.
After dumping him on the sofa, Gillian turned on her heel to leave.
York suddenly grabbed her wrist. "Honey, don't go, I feel awful."
Hailey's face drained of color as she stared at Gillian with high alert.
Gillian took a deep breath, having no idea what kind of drunken delusion York was having.
She pulled her hand free and looked at Hailey's increasingly pale face with a smirk. "He's calling for you again. He just got the wrong person."
Hailey bit her lip and rushed over to soothe York.
"Of course he meant me. York only calls me his honey."
She was marking her territory.
