Gillian's breath hitched violently in her throat.
The man's blistering breath mixed with his cruel words, but it only made her blood run ice cold.
York acted like a madman, refusing to let go, completely unyielding.
The taste of blood lingered heavily in her mouth as the kiss deepened into something destructive.
His possessiveness always flared up at the most unpredictable times, like a rabid animal.
Eventually, she stopped fighting him. Like a puppet with its strings cut, she went completely limp, offering zero reaction.
York finally pulled back. He gripped her jaw tightly, staring down at her with glacial eyes. "Why aren't you fighting back anymore?"
"Giving up on saving yourself for your boyfriends?"
His voice was dripping with mockery and blatant disrespect.
Gillian looked up at him, her expression eerily calm. "You're right. We aren't divorced yet. If you want to take me right now, go ahead."
"As long as you don't mind sleeping with a corpse."
She would just treat it like being mauled by a rabid dog. He had used her body for years anyway; one more time wouldn't make a difference.
Perhaps it was her dead-eyed stare and complete emotional detachment that completely killed the mood. York stared at her, silent for several long seconds.
Finally, he let out a harsh scoff, his gaze darkening as he glared at her. "Do you honestly think I wouldn't take you right here?"
"Of course you would. What exactly are you afraid of?" Gillian stared right back at him. "You have no problem parading your mistress around town and rubbing your affairs in the world's face. Is there anything you're actually ashamed of?"
He had trampled her heart and dignity into the dirt. What was one more layer of humiliation?
York's eyes turned glacial. "You don't have the right to even say Hailey's name."
"Fine. I don't." Gillian gave a hollow laugh. "I don't care anyway. Just sign the divorce papers."
"Divorce you so you can run off with them? Keep dreaming," York snarled, a terrifying darkness settling over his features. "I'm not nearly finished using my wife's body, and my family hasn't accepted Hailey yet. A divorce isn't happening."
