Chapter 112 A Private Claim
Lady Flourish’s POV
The silence that settled over the hallway after Harold and Phina vanished was heavy, but the suffocating tension slowly began to melt away.
I let out a long breath I hadn’t realized I was holding, leaning back against the cool glass of the balcony doors.
“Are you alright?” Damian asked, turning to face me. His aura smoothed out, returning to the warm, protective blanket that had comforted me all evening.
“I am,” I replied, offering a faint, genuine smile. “Honestly… it felt good to say it out loud. For a long time, I thought seeing them together would always hurt. But tonight, looking at them… I felt nothing.”
Damian’s dark eyes softened, a faint glint of pride touching his gaze. “Good. Because your past has no place in your future.”
He reached into the inner pocket of his dark suit jacket and produced a small, velvet-lined mahogany box. The craftsmanship was exquisite, bearing the ancient crest of the Stonehedge Alpha line.
I blinked, looking from the box up to his face. “Damian, what is this?”
“A gift,” he said softly.
“You’ve already done more than enough tonight,” I protested gently. “You don’t need to give me anything.”
“Open it, Flourish,” he commanded softly, a quiet amuse sitting on his lips.
With hesitant fingers, I opened the clasp. Resting on the dark velvet was a delicate silver chain holding a pendant shaped like a crescent moon encircling a flawless, starlight sapphire.
The gemstone caught the dim light of the hallway, glowing with a deep, mesmerizing radiance.
But what truly took my breath away was the subtle, faint hum pulsing from the metal. It was infused with a microscopic trace of Damian’s personal Alpha essence-a ancient wolf tradition meant to shield a chosen mate from foreign pressure and unwanted scents.
It was priceless, elegant, and profoundly meaningful in our culture.
“Damian..” I whispered, my breath catching in my throat. “This is… this is far too expensive. I can’t accept this.”

“It belonged to my grandmother,” Damian said, stepping closer until there was barely any space left between us. “She wore it when my grandfather brought her to her first inter-pack summit. It is meant for the woman who stands beside the Alpha of Stormbridge.”
My heart hammered frantically against my ribs. “Damian… you called me your Luna in front of everyone, and now this… Are you sure about this? People will expect-”
“I don’t care what people expect,” he cut in smoothly, taking the necklace from the box. “I only care about what is real. Turn around.”
I obeyed instinctively, my fingers holding my hair up away from my neck. His warm fingers brushed against my bare skin as he draped the delicate chain around my collarbone, sending a sharp, electrical shiver straight down my spine. His breath brushed against the sensitive shell of my ear as he fastened the clasp.
“There,” he murmured, his hands lingering on my shoulders, his thumb softly tracing the curve of my collarbone. “Now everyone in the territory will know exactly who you belong to.”
I turned back to face him, looking down at the glowing sapphire against my midnight-blue dress. The weight of the stone felt comforting, an anchor against the storm that was sure to
come.
“Thank you,” I murmured softly, looking up into his dark, intense eyes.
“You don’t need to thank me, Flourish,” he replied, his thumb reaching up to softly brush against my lower lip. “You are mine to protect, and mine to escort. Always.”
By the time Damian drove me back to my home, the sky was beginning to turn a deep indigo, signaling the early approach of dawn.
The quiet purr of his luxury sedan parked outside my driveway felt like a safe haven from the chaos of the night.
“Will you be alright tomorrow?” Damian asked, resting his wrist on the steering wheel as he turned to look at me. “The news from tonight will likely reach the pack networks by breakfast.”
“I have F-Tech’s internal audit to run,” I said, a soft chuckle escaping my lips as I touched the sapphire pendant resting against my chest. “Accounting fraud tends to keep a person grounded, no matter what rumors are flying around.”
Damian smiled—a rare, genuine expression that warmed his whole face. “If anyone bothers you, whether it’s Harold, Fina, or the elders, you call me immediately.”
“I will,” I promised. “Goodnight, Damian.”
“Goodnight, my Luna,” he murmured softly.

Finished
The words still sent a thrill through my wolf, but this time, I didn’t choke on them. I simply smiled, stepped out of the car, and walked up my porch stairs.
Inside the quiet house, I leaned against the closed door, letting out a long breath.
My phone, which had been set to silent throughout the banquet, suddenly began vibrating frantically in my purse. I pulled it out, blinking at the barrage of notifications filling my screen.
There were seventeen missed calls from my stepmother, five frantic text messages from Devina, and dozens of notifications from internal pack forums.
I opened Devina’s chat first.
