I Refuse To Be Your Luna (Flourish and Harold) novel Chapter 200

Chapter 200 The One She Trusted

Alpha Damian’s POV

Ragnar stood at the entrance with twenty Stonehedge wolves behind him, their pack scent spreading through the hall and immediately putting my wolf on alert.

I stepped in front of Flourish instinctively, but she placed her hand against my back and moved beside me instead.

Ragnar’s eyes settled on her. “So it’s true.”

Flourish frowned. “What?”

His gaze moved over the wolves kneeling outside. “The Voss bloodline has awakened.”

My claws extended. “Choose your next words carefully.”

“I’m not here to fight,” Ragnar said calmly.

“Then why did you bring twenty wolves?”

“Because the council has been watching this estate.”

Flourish’s face tightened. “Since when?”

“Since before you knew your own name.”

She stepped forward. “Did you know about my mother?”

Ragnar’s jaw tightened. “Yes.”

Her breathing changed. “What did you know?”

“More than I should have.”

She stared at him. “Did you betray her?”

His eyes shifted briefly toward Garret. “No.”

Garret gave a weak laugh from inside the room. “Then tell her the truth.”

Ragnar’s expression hardened. “Not here.”

Flourish folded her arms. “Here is fine.”

He looked at her for a long moment. “Your mother trusted me.”

I felt her wolf react through our bond.

“Everyone keeps saying that,” she said, her voice turning bitter. “But nobody tells me what happened.”

Ragnar lowered his gaze. “Because the truth would put you in danger.”

She stepped closer. “That excuse is getting old.”

I almost smiled despite the tension in the room. That was Flourish. She had spent too long being lied to, and she was no longer willing to accept vague answers from anyone.

Ragnar sighed. “Your mother asked me to protect you if she ever died.”

Flourish froze. “Did she know she was going to die?”

“Yes.”

Her eyes filled with pain. “And you promised?”

“I did.”

“Then why did you disappear?”

“Because Magnus found me,” he said, looking away.

My wolf growled. “What did he do?”

“He threatened my entire pack.” Ragnar’s hands tightened at his sides. “He told me that if I refused to cooperate, every wolf under my protection would die.”

Flourish’s expression softened slightly. “Did you give him information?”

“Once.”

Her face fell. “That information led him to my mother.”

“No,” he said firmly. “It led him to a false location.”

I stared at him. “Then what happened?”

“Your mother had already anticipated the betrayal.”

Flourish’s eyes widened. “She knew?”

“She knew someone would break.” Ragnar looked directly at her. “She wanted Magnus to believe he had found you.”

Flourish’s breathing turned shallow. “Then who did he find?”

Ragnar didn’t answer right away. Garret did instead. “Your mother’s sister.”

Silence filled the room.

Flourish turned toward him. “I don’t have an aunt.”

Garret’s eyes closed. “Not anymore.”

Ragnar looked at me. “That’s why your mother disappeared.”

Flourish’s hands began shaking. “What happened to her?”

His voice dropped low. “She died protecting the location where you were hidden.”.

Her eyes closed, and I moved closer without hesitation, wrapping my arm around her waist as she leaned into me.

“Don’t listen to this alone,” I said quietly.

She nodded against my shoulder.

Ragnar continued. “Your mother wanted you to grow up without knowing the Voss bloodline.”

“Why?”

“Because she believed the council would eventually try to claim you.”

Flourish looked out at the wolves still kneeling on the lawn. “And now they’ve found me.”

“Yes.”

She looked back at Ragnar. “Are you here to take me?”

“No,” he said, his answer coming immediately. “I’m here to warn you.”

I narrowed my eyes. “About what?”

His expression changed. “Your own family.”

Flourish stiffened. “My family?”

“Someone inside your family has already contacted the council.”
