Chapter 201 That Must Be It

Lady Flourish’s POV

The wolves were already charging when my wolf surged forward, and the pressure of the Voss bloodline spread through my body before I could even understand what was happening.

Damian stepped in front of me, his claws extending as his eyes turned bright gold, but I grabbed his arm and forced myself between him and the attacking pack.

“Stop!”

My voice was not loud, yet the command struck every wolf at once. They stopped so suddenly that claws scraped hard against the stone floor, and several of them stumbled from the force of their own momentum.

My chest tightened as I realized every wolf in the courtyard was staring directly at me now, waiting for another command.

I swallowed hard. “Back away from him.”

Every wolf immediately stepped backward, and the silence that followed felt worse than the attack itself.

Damian stared at me, his breathing heavy as his wolf slowly settled beneath his skin. I could feel his concern through our bond, and the warmth of it steadied the fear that had been building inside me.

Ragnar’s face had gone pale. “Now you understand.”

I turned toward him. “Understand what?”

He looked at the wolves. “They don’t obey the council anymore, not fully.”

My brows drew together. “Then why did they attack Damian?”

“Because the council ordered them to.”

Lucien stepped forward, his expression grim. “The moment they sensed his wolf, they were commanded to eliminate him before the bond between you could become permanent.”

My stomach twisted. “You knew this could happen?”

“I suspected it.”

Damian moved beside me. “Then you should have told us.”

“I didn’t know the council had moved this quickly,” Lucien said, his gaze hardening.

My wolf remained restless, but I forced myself to breathe. “I don’t want anyone hurt because of

me.”

Damian reached for my hand. “They came for me because they know you’re important.” His thumb moved gently across my knuckles. “That doesn’t make you responsible for their choices.”

I looked at him. “What if they keep coming?”

“Then they keep finding us together.”

His answer was calm, but I could hear the anger sitting underneath it.

Ragnar stepped forward again. “There is something else.”

“What?”

He reached into his coat and removed a sealed document. “Your mother left this for you.”

My heart skipped. “Why do you have it?”

“Because she gave it to me before she died.”

I took the document with trembling fingers. The seal carried the same Voss symbol I had seen inside the archive, and I broke it carefully.

Inside was a legal ownership transfer connected to F-Tech and several properties that had belonged to Elara.

My eyes widened. “She transferred everything to me?”

Ragnar nodded. “She wanted you to have independent power before the council ever found you.”

I read through the document again, and the transfer had finally been completed.

For

years, people had treated my mother’s estate as if it belonged to Garret, but the papers in my hand proved otherwise.

I looked toward my father. “Did you know about this?”

Garret’s expression tightened. “Your mother told me she had protected your inheritance, but she never showed me the documents.”

I folded the pages carefully. “Then why didn’t anyone tell me?”

I stared down at the papers, and for the first time I understood that my mother had spent years preparing for a future she knew I would eventually face without her.

My phone vibrated. It was a message from Rhys. The ownership transfer is officially complete. F-Tech is back under your control.

I stared at the screen. After everything that had happened, I finally had something no council could simply take away from me.

Damian leaned closer. “Good news?”

I nodded. “F-Tech is mine again.”

A small smile appeared on his face. “Then congratulations, CEO.”

I laughed softly despite myself. “Don’t make fun of me.”

“I’m not,” he said, his eyes softening. “I’m proud of you.”

The words settled warmly in my chest, and I reached up to adjust the collar of his shirt. “Thank you for standing beside me.”

“Always.”

For several seconds neither of us spoke. Then I remembered another message I had received earlier that day, from Rhys, explaining that Damian had personally gone to the board when they tried to use my suspension against me.

I looked at him. “You went to the board for me.”

His expression shifted slightly. “Who told you?”

“Rhys.”

He sighed. “You didn’t need to know.”

“I did.” I stepped closer to him. “You keep protecting me without asking for anything back.”

His hand settled around my waist. “I don’t need anything.”

My heart softened. “That’s not true.”

He raised an eyebrow. “What do you think I need?”

I smiled. “Me.”

His lips curved. “Exactly.”

I kissed his cheek before pulling away. “I’ll get you something.”

“You don’t have to.”

“I want to.”
