Chapter 218 Blood In Her Room

Alpha Damian’s POV

M

The scream from the upper floor had barely faded when I was already moving, my wolf surging forward with enough force to push my claws through my fingertips.

The scent of fresh blood grew stronger with every step, and because it was coming from Flourish’s room, every instinct in me screamed that I was already too late.

“Damian!” Magnus called behind me.

I didn’t stop. I reached the staircase in seconds, taking the steps two at a time while warriors rushed after me.

The moment I reached the upper corridor, I saw the first body. One of my guards lay against the wall, his throat cut, his eyes still open.

My wolf snarled, and I followed the blood trail toward Flourish’s room, my heart pounding hard against my ribs. The door stood open, the wooden frame damaged as though someone had forced their way through it.

“Flourish!”

No answer came. I entered. Her bed was untouched, but blood covered the floor beside the wardrobe, a broken dagger lying nearby with its blade dark and wet.

My stomach dropped. Then I heard breathing, and I turned sharply.

Mira was on the floor beside the window, one hand pressed against her side, her uniform torn and blood soaking her fingers.

“Mira.”

I dropped beside her and pulled her hand away from the wound. “Where is Flourish?”

Her eyes struggled to focus on me. “They took her.”

The words stopped my heart, and my wolf erupted. “Who?”

Mira gripped my arm. “I fought three of them, Alpha.”

“Where did they take her?”

She shook her head weakly. “I don’t know.”

I stood so fast the chair beside me crashed against the wall. My claws were fully extended now, and the warriors behind me lowered their heads beneath the force of my Alpha command.

“Lock down every exit.” I looked toward the corridor. “No one leaves Stonehedge.”

Magnus arrived moments later, followed by Marwin and Hailey. His gaze moved from Mira to the blood on the floor, and his face hardened.

“Damian.”

“They took her.”

His eyes widened. “How?”

“They came through the estate.”

Marwin turned immediately toward the warriors. “Search every corridor.”

I crouched beside Mira again. “What did they look like?”

“Black clothing,” she whispered. “They carried suppressor blades.”

My jaw tightened. The same weapons used during Flourish’s kidnapping beneath Midnight Society. This wasn’t another random attack. The same people had come for her again.

“Did they say anything?”

Mira swallowed. “One of them called her the blood heir.”

I went completely still. “What did you say?”

“The blood heir.”

My wolf stopped moving. That phrase meant something. I just didn’t know what yet.

Before I could question her further, Rhys rushed into the room holding a small communication device.

“Alpha.”

I turned. “We found a signal.”

“From Flourish?”

He shook his head. “From the eastern tunnels.”

My eyes narrowed. “How does that help us?”

He stepped closer. “The signal activated immediately after the attack on this room.”

Magnus’s expression changed. “Someone wants us to follow it.”

I looked at the device. It was a trap. But if Flourish was there, I would walk into hell itself.

“Prepare the warriors.”

Magnus caught my arm. “You are not going alone.”

“I’m not.” I looked at Rhys. “How many?”

“Thirty Dartwood warriors and forty Stonehedge warriors can be ready in three minutes.”

“Take all of them.”

Magnus nodded, and then I heard footsteps behind me. Garret stood at the entrance, his face pale.

“You cannot go into those tunnels.”

I turned slowly. “Why?”

He didn’t answer, and my wolf immediately noticed the change in his scent. Fear. Not concern.

Fear.

I stepped toward him. “You knew about them.”

Garret’s jaw tightened. “I knew the tunnels existed.”

“That’s not what I asked.”

His eyes shifted toward Magnus, and for the first time, my father in law looked like a man who had been cornered. “I told you the truth would put her in danger.”
