Alpha Damian’s POV

Garret’s silence followed us into the hidden passage, and with every step my anger became harder to control.

The tunnel smelled of damp stone, old blood, and something ancient beneath it, while my kept pulling me forward because Flourish’s scent was faintly present.

I stopped abruptly. “She was here.”

Rhys raised the scanner. “The signal is stronger ahead.”

Magnus studied the walls. “This passage was sealed before most of us were born.”

I ran my fingers over the stone. Someone had scratched fresh markings into it, the Stonehedge crest, but beneath it was another symbol I had never seen before.

Garret saw it, and his breathing changed.

“You recognize that.”

He looked away.

“Garret.”

He finally met my eyes. “That symbol belonged to an old bloodline.”

“What bloodline?”

He hesitated. “Flourish’s mother’s.”

My wolf went completely still. I stepped closer. “You knew.”

“I knew there was something unusual about her.”

“You knew enough to recognize this.”

His shoulders tightened. “I did not know they would come for her.”

“You were warned.”

He looked at me sharply. “Who told you that?”

“The man who attacked her told her to ask you about the truth.”

Garret’s face drained of color, and Magnus looked between us. “Garret, what truth?”

He closed his eyes briefly. “I should have told her years ago.”

My patience snapped. “You will tell me now.”

He swallowed. “Flourish was never simply an Alpha’s daughter.”

The words settled heavily in the narrow tunnel, and I waited.

“Her mother came from a bloodline that carried a rare Alpha inheritance.”

I frowned. “Every Alpha bloodline carries an inheritance.”

“Not like hers.” His voice dropped. “Her wolf can awaken an ancient command.”

My wolf reacted immediately. “What command?”

He shook his head. “I never learned its full extent.”

“Then why are they calling her the blood heir?”

He stared at me. “Because that is what she is.”

A growl escaped my throat. “You let me marry her without telling me that?”

“I wanted her safe.”

“You kept her ignorant.”

His eyes hardened. “You think I don’t know that?”

For a moment neither of us moved. Then a sound came from deeper inside the passage, a woman’s voice.

“Damian.”

My heart stopped. “Flourish.”

I moved forward, and Magnus grabbed my shoulder. “Wait.”

I pulled free. Her voice came again. “Damian, don’t come alone.”

My wolf strained toward her. “Flourish!”

The

passage suddenly filled with a low growl, not hers. Several wolves emerged from the

darkness, their eyes glowing red. Rogues, but they weren’t acting like ordinary rogues. They moved in formation.

“Defensive line!” I ordered.

Our warriors shifted immediately, and the corridor erupted. Wolves collided against stone as claws tore through flesh and growls echoed through the passage.

I shifted halfway, letting my claws and fangs emerge while keeping enough control to fight in the narrow space.

One rogue lunged at me, and I caught its throat, my claws piercing through its neck. It collapsed. Another attacked from behind, but Rhys intercepted it with his blade.

“Alpha!”

I turned toward the sound. A rogue had reached Garret. He shifted instantly, his Alpha wolf slamming into the attacker and tearing it away from him. For the first time, I saw just how powerful Flourish’s father truly was.

Then the remaining rogues suddenly retreated. I knew immediately they had never intended to defeat us. They had been buying time.

“Move!”

We pushed deeper into the passage, and the stone chamber from the photograph appeared ahead. The door was open. Flourish was gone.

My heart dropped. There was blood on the chair where she had been sitting. I rushed inside.

“Flourish!”

Nothing.

Then I noticed the wall. Someone had carved words into the stone.

“THE HEIR HAS AWAKENED.’

My wolf growled. Garret walked into the chamber and froze.

“What does it mean?”
