Chapter 221 The First Alpha
Alpha Damian’s POV
The golden eye beneath the broken floor remained open, staring directly at us while the chamber trembled around it.
My wolf wanted to attack, but every instinct I had told me that whatever was beneath Stonehedge was far beyond an ordinary enemy.
“Get Flourish out.”
I pushed her toward Magnus, but she immediately grabbed my arm.
“No.”
“Flourish, move.”
“I am not leaving you.”
Her voice shook, but she didn’t release me. I looked into her glowing eyes.
“Then stay behind me.”
She nodded.
Magnus stepped forward with several warriors. “Damian, we need to seal the chamber.”
Garret shook his head. “That will not work anymore.”
I turned toward him. “Why?”

“Because the blood has already been activated.” He looked at Flourish. “The gate recognized her.”
My wolf growled. “Then tell me how to stop this.”
He hesitated. “I don’t know.”
I almost lost control. “You knew enough to hide this from her for years.”
“I knew enough to fear it.”
The golden eye moved, and the entire chamber shook. A massive claw broke through the floor, and warriors shifted immediately.

The Stonehedge wolves surrounded Flourish while the Dartwood warriors moved in beside them, their combined growls filling the chamber. But the creature beneath us kept rising.
Then a voice echoed through the stone. “Who has awakened me?”
My wolf went rigid. The voice was deep enough to vibrate through my bones.
Flourish stepped forward. “I did.”
I caught her wrist. “Don’t.”
She looked at me. “I think it knows me.”
Before I could stop her, the creature rose farther. Its body was enormous, covered in dark fur, with golden eyes and scars running across its face.
It looked like a wolf, but its presence carried an Alpha command unlike anything I had ever experienced.
Every warrior around us dropped to one knee, and I fought the pressure with everything I had. So did Flourish.
The creature stared at her. “The blood heir.”
Flourish swallowed. “Who are you?”
“I was the first.”
Garret lowered his head. “The First Alpha.”
The creature’s gaze shifted toward him. “You remember.”
Garret trembled. “You should have remained sealed.”
“You sealed me because you feared what I could reveal.”
I looked at Garret. “What did you do?”
He didn’t answer, and the creature spoke again. “Your father knew.”
My attention snapped toward him. “My father?”
“Magnus.”
Everyone turned toward him, and Magnus stood completely still. I stared at him. “Grandfather.”

His expression was grim. “There are things about Stonehedge you were never told.”
Anger rose in me. “Apparently everyone knew except me.”
Flourish touched my arm, and I looked at her. Her expression had changed. She looked frightened, not of the creature, but of something she was beginning to remember.
“I remember this place.”
My stomach tightened. “You have never been here.”
She shook her head. “I know.” She pressed her fingers against her temple. “But I remember my mother.”
Garret stepped toward her. “Flourish.”
She looked at him. “You knew.”
He lowered his head. “Yes.”
“You knew what my mother was.”
“Yes.”
Her breathing became unsteady. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
His eyes reddened. “Because the moment you remembered, they would come for you.”
She looked toward the First Alpha. “They already came.”
The creature stared at her. “They came because your blood is the key.”
I stepped between them. “Key to what?”
Its gaze moved to me. “The ancient gate.”
I frowned. “What is behind it?”.
“The prison.” Its expression didn’t change. “The prison is not where you think.” It lifted one massive claw and pointed toward Flourish. “The prison is inside her blood.”
Her face went pale, and I pulled her against me immediately. “You are not taking her.”
The First Alpha’s expression stayed calm. “I do not need to.”
The ground shook again, and far above us the pack began howling. Then Rhys’s voice came
