Chapter 222 Congratulations
Alpha Damian’s POV

Flourish’s eyes remained completely gold as the howl beneath the estate faded into the distance, and every wolf in the chamber lowered their heads instinctively.
My wolf reacted violently to the sight, pushing against my control because every part of me wanted to get her away from whatever had answered her.
“Flourish.”
I reached for her face, but she flinched before my fingers touched her skin. Her breathing was uneven, and the gold in her eyes seemed brighter than before.
“I don’t know what’s happening.”
Her voice was barely above a whisper, and that frightened me more than the army surrounding Stonehedge. I pulled her against my chest, ignoring the pressure of the First Alpha’s presence.
“Whatever it is, you’re not facing it alone.”
Her hands closed around my coat. For several seconds, she stayed against me without speaking, and I felt her trembling gradually ease.
Then her phone rang.
The sound was so ordinary that it felt wrong in the ancient chamber.
Flourish pulled it from her pocket and stared at the screen. It was Mira.
She answered carefully. “Mira?”
“Flourish, I heard about what happened at Stonehedge.”
Mira’s voice sounded tense through the speaker. “I wanted to make sure you’re safe.”
Flourish glanced at me before replying. “I’m alive.”
“That’s all I needed to hear.”
There was a pause before Mira continued. “And congratulations.”
Flourish frowned. “For what?”
“Your marriage.”

Her expression changed immediately.
I felt her body stiffen against me.
“Thank you,” she said quietly.

Mira continued speaking, unaware of what had happened in the chamber. “I know everything is complicated, but if something important happens on your end, promise you’ll tell me.”
“I promise.”
The call ended, but Flourish kept staring at the screen.
I studied her face. “What is it?”
“Nothing.”
She slipped the phone into her pocket, but I knew that answer was false.
Before I could ask again, another message appeared.
She opened it.
Her expression changed so quickly that I immediately noticed.
“Who is it?”
She hesitated. “Mira.”
I waited.
Flourish read the message twice before her shoulders dropped.
“Mira and Rhys have ended their partnership.”
I frowned. “Partnership?”
“They were working together on the F-Tech investigation.”
She looked troubled. “She says she cannot explain everything right now, but she wants me to be careful.”
I understood why the message unsettled her. F-Tech had already been connected to the people who abducted her, and anything happening around its investigation could be important.
“What else did she say?”

Flourish swallowed. “She said I should not become too dependent on anyone.”
Her eyes lifted toward mine.
“She said when you give someone too much of yourself, you’re the one who gets hurt when everything changes.”
My chest tightened.
I knew exactly what she was thinking.
“You believe she’s talking about me.”
“I don’t know.”
She looked away.
I caught her hand before she could pull away. “Flourish, look at me.”
She did.
“I don’t intend to change my mind about you.”
Her lips parted slightly, but before she could answer, Magnus interrupted.
“Damian.”
I turned toward him.
The First Alpha was still watching Flourish, and the ancient creature had become completely still. The warriors surrounding us remained tense, waiting for my command.
Magnus pointed toward the communication device in my hand.
“Rhys is calling again.”
I answered immediately. “Report.”
“Alpha, the army surrounding Stonehedge hasn’t moved.”
“Why?”
“We don’t know.”
I looked toward the First Alpha.

“Has their commander made another demand?”
“Not yet.”
Rhys hesitated.

“There’s something else.”
“Say it.”
“The enemy has stopped all attacks.”
My brows tightened.
“Why would thousands of wolves surround our territory and then stop?”
Rhys was silent for a moment.
“Because they’re waiting for something.”
My wolf growled.
I looked at Flourish.
She was already staring toward the chamber floor.
The golden glow in her eyes had returned.
“We need to leave this chamber,” I said.
Magnus nodded. “Agreed.”
I took Flourish’s hand and led her toward the stairs while the warriors followed closely behind
The First Alpha did not move, but his voice followed us through the chamber.
“The blood has remembered.”.
Flourish stopped and then I turned toward her. She looked shaken, but she continued walking.
When we reached the upper level, the pack guards immediately surrounded us. Rhys was waiting near the entrance with several documents clutched against his chest.
“Alpha.”
“What happened?”

He handed me a tablet. “The F-Tech merger documents.”
I glanced down.
“The finance team found irregularities before the attack,” Rhys explained. “We initially thought they were ordinary accounting discrepancies.”
“And now?”
“They aren’t.”
He pointed to several transactions.
“Someone altered the records from inside the company.”
