Chapter 237 No Way Out
Alpha Damian’s POV
The private dining room door exploded inward, and I dragged Flourish down before the broken wood could hit her.
My wolf surged beneath my skin as the lights flickered violently above us, Eugene shouting somewhere behind the overturned table.
“Get down!”
Three wolves rushed through the destroyed doorway, dressed like ordinary men, though there was nothing ordinary about the scent hitting me. Underground. Tunnel-soaked.
“They’re from Stonehedge,” Flourish said beside me.
I moved in front of her, my injured shoulder barely healed but already tensing with the need to shift. “Magnus, where are you?”
“Thirty seconds away.”
“That’s too long.”
One of the attackers shifted first, bones cracking beneath his clothes as the lawyers screamed and his eyes went silver.
My wolf answered at once, and the Alpha pressure that burst out of me forced him back a step, but the other two closed in regardless.
Marvolo grabbed a chair and shoved it into the nearest attacker. The wolf slammed into it, and everyone froze for a second. I turned sharply on him.
“Don’t look at me like that,” Marvolo said, tense. “They aren’t with me.”
I heard Flourish’s low growl beside me. The scent from beneath Stonehedge still clung to him, and I filed that away for later.
Before I could answer, one of the wolves lunged, and I caught him in midair.
The impact sent us both into the wall, the whole room shaking as I drove my fist into his chest. He snarled, trying to shift further, and I didn’t give him the chance. My claws pushed through my fingertips, and I drove him down hard enough to crack the tiles.
Flourish grabbed Eugene’s arm. “Stay behind me.”

“Flourish, I don’t think that is a good idea,” he said, eyes wide.

Another wolf came for them, and I felt her wolf surge, golden light filling the room around her. The attacker stopped, frozen for a second beneath the pressure rolling off her.
Then he smiled. “You really don’t know what you are.”
Before he could move further, Magnus crashed through the damaged doorway with four warriors behind him and hit the attacker from the side, sending them both into the opposite wall.
Eugene grabbed the other lawyers and pushed them toward the corner. “Everyone stay down!”
Lewis stared at Flourish. “What the hell is happening?”
She had no answer for him. I’d already pinned the first attacker to the floor, my wolf nearly visible beneath my skin. “Who sent you?”
He laughed, blood running from the corner of his mouth. “You should have listened to your mother.”
Flourish’s heart stopped, I heard it. “What did you say?”
“Elara warned her daughter.”
Her wolf pushed forward violently. “Where is she?”
“Not where you think.”
I grabbed his throat, letting the Alpha pressure in the room turn suffocating. “Answer her.”
His smile disappeared, fear crossing his face for the first time. That was when Marvolo moved, and I turned on him instantly.
“What are you doing?”
“Getting her location,” he said, phone already out.
Flourish stiffened. I released the attacker slowly, watching Marvolo’s face go pale at whatever was on the screen.
“You said you weren’t with them.”
“I’m not.”
“Then explain why you smell like the tunnels.”

He looked at Flourish, and for a few seconds the fighting around us faded into background noise. “I was beneath Stonehedge three nights ago.”
I stepped toward him. “Why?”
“I was looking for someone.”
Flourish froze. “Who?”
His eyes went to the broken door, then back to her. “Elara.”
Her stomach dropped, I could feel it through the bond even from where I stood. Before either of us could speak, the wolf under my hand started laughing again.
“You are wasting time.”
I tightened my grip. He looked straight at Flourish. “They already moved her.”
Her wolf growled. “Where?”
“Somewhere even your Alpha can’t reach.”
The words barely finished leaving his mouth before I drove his head against the floor.
“Damian!”
He went unconscious, and the room went quiet. Magnus had the other two restrained, the lawyers still pressed against the wall, terrified.
Eugene stared at Flourish, then at me. “What is going on?”
There was no answer either of us could give that would make any of it sound reasonable. My phone rang before I had to try.
“Talk.”
“Alpha, we have a problem,” Rhys said.
My jaw tightened. “Where are you?”
“Stonehedge.”
I felt Flourish go cold beside me. “The eastern search team found one of the underground exits.”
“And?”

“It was empty. But there was something left behind.”
“What?”
He hesitated. “Elara’s necklace.”

Flourish’s knees buckled, and I caught her before she hit the floor, her fingers gripping my shirt.
“She’s alive.”
“We don’t know that.”
“She is.” The words came out through her teeth, her wolf refusing anything else. I put my hand firm against her back. “Rhys, secure the area.”
“Already done.”
“Nobody enters or leaves Stonehedge.”
A pause. “Alpha.”
“What?”
“There is one more thing.” The room went still around us.
