Rhys pulled up the access feed while Harold moved toward the door. The alert placed the card inside the eastern wing, near a records room connected to the company’s remote server.

“Send the nearest guards,” Harold ordered. “Keep the exits covered.”

Rhys contacted the patrol team and tracked the card’s movement across the security map. I stayed beside him, watching the signal move from one corridor to another before it stopped.

“Someone’s inside the records room,” Rhys said. “They’re accessing the server connection.”

Harold shifted his weight, his wolf pushing close beneath his skin. “We’re going.”

I followed them into the corridor, keeping behind the guards as they approached the eastern wing. By the time we reached the records room, the door stood open and the card had stopped transmitting.

The guards searched the nearby rooms and checked the emergency exits, but the person had already escaped.

Rhys examined the terminal and confirmed that someone had accessed the server connection, though the activity log did not reveal what had been copied or changed.

“Lock down this section,” Harold told the guards. “No one leaves without being checked.”

I looked at the terminal, then at Rhys. “I’m going to my office.”

Harold turned to me. “That’s not happening until we know whether the building is secure.”

“My company’s records are being altered, and someone is using its systems to access Stonehedge. I can’t keep managing this from a clinic room.”

“You’ll be exposed.”

“Then come with me. We’ll use a secure route, and Rhys can check the entrances.”

Harold didn’t answer right away. Rhys was already pulling up the office building’s security layout, checking the entry points and confirming which route could be used without passing through public areas.

“I’ll arrange the route,” Rhys said. “We’ll have guards at the entrance, the lift, and your office floor.”

Harold finally agreed to accompany me. Before we left, he ordered the patrol teams to keep monitoring the tunnels and to report any further movement immediately.

The drive to my office was quiet, with two Stonehedge vehicles following us. Rhys stayed in contact with the security team while I reviewed Cheryl’s messages and made sure the company’s financial controls remained in place.

When we arrived, the building’s security staff had already been informed. Rhys checked the entrance cameras and access logs before allowing us inside, and Harold stayed close as we took the lift to my floor.

Cheryl was waiting outside my office with our legal team. She had gathered the documents connected to the attempted share transfer, the altered employee file, and the inactive account that had been used to access Stonehedge’s underground control panel.

“Have there been any more changes?” I asked.

“Nothing new since Rhys restricted the account,” she said. “We’ve preserved the records, and Finance has paused the transactions that need further review.”

“Good. Let’s go through everything together.”

We sat around the conference table while Cheryl displayed the documents.

The share transfer request had been stopped, but the authorization details still needed to be verified, and the altered employee file contained edits that had made the dismissal appear personal.

Our legal adviser explained the steps required to protect my ownership and preserve the evidence.

I asked Cheryl to keep the company’s regular work moving, while any unusual financial activity or changes to shareholder authority remained subject to review.

A knock interrupted us.

Cheryl opened the door, and a lawyer introduced himself as a contact from Eugene’s network. He had brought information about a separate inquiry involving shell companies that had appeared in the tunnel investigation.

“I was told you were reviewing suspicious financial activity,” he began. “These records may be connected.”

He placed a folder on the table and opened it to a series of company records and transaction

summaries.

The documents showed money moving through business accounts to pay for equipment,

vehicles, and access to restricted pack territory.

“Who traced these payments?” I asked.

“Our team was reviewing the shell companies after they appeared in another inquiry. Several transactions overlapped with the records you provided.”

I scanned the company names until one caught my attention. I had seen it before, connected to a contract F-Tech had reviewed months earlier.

“I recognize this name,” I said, pointing to the page. “We received a proposal from them.”

The lawyer nodded. “That’s why I wanted to speak with you. The company appears in both sets

of records.”

“What was the contract for?”

“Equipment supply and transport services. The payments we found suggest the company may also have been used to fund vehicles and equipment connected to the restricted territory.”

I asked him to explain the connection in more detail. Before he could finish, Harold’s phone vibrated.

He checked the message and his expression changed.

“Magnus,” he said. “The council has called an emergency session.”

“When?” I asked.

“Now. They want me there immediately.”

I closed the folder. “Then I’m coming with you.”

Harold shook his head. “The council meeting concerns Stonehedge.”

“The evidence concerns F-Tech, too. Someone used my company’s accounts, and the shell companies may have paid for access to your territory.”
