I Refuse To Be Your Luna (Flourish and Harold) novel Chapter 296

1 Reuse To Be Your Euna

Chapter 296 Expired Usefulness

Lady Flourish POV

I will. The words had barely left my mouth when Rhys moved closer to the screen.

“Then we keep her here,” I said. “Under watch.”

Phina looked at me as if she had expected the opposite.

“You’re not sending me away?”

“No.”

Rhys glanced at me. “Are you sure?”

“Yes. She has just been told she is expendable by the people who have been using her for years. If they think she knows enough to be a problem, sending her away gives them a chance to silence her without us seeing it.”

Phina lowered her phone slowly.

“I can stay somewhere secure,” she said.

“You’re staying under pack protection.” I replied. “You will have guards, restricted movement, and no private communication unless Rhys clears it. If you remember anything else, you tell us.”

Her eyes dropped.

“I will.”

Rhys was already working on the message. He connected Phina’s phone to the secure F–Tech system and started tracing the number.

“I’ve got the first relay,” he said after a few minutes. “Give me another moment.”

I stood behind him, watching lines of information move across the screen. The office had quiet except for the tapping of his fingers and the low hum from the server unit in the corner.

Then he stopped.

“It went dark.”

“What do you mean?”

“They cut the connection.”

“Can you trace where it came from?”

“Partly.”

He opened another screen and pulled up an old security record.

“The route matches the network that breached Stonehedge servers a few weeks ago.”

I looked at him.

“The same network?”

“The same pattern. Same masking system. Different access point.”

“That means it isn’t some random person trying to frighten her.”

“No.” Rhys leaned back. “Whoever sent that message knew exactly which system to use and how to disappear before we could follow them.”

My fingers tightened around the edge of the desk.

“So whoever controls Phina’s handler still has access to pack systems.”

“Somewhere,” Rhys said. “I can’t tell you where yet.”

Damian had been standing near the window during the entire call. When Rhys finished, he turned around.

“How many threats are we dealing with now?”

Nobody answered immediately.

He counted them himself.

“Voss and the Eastern Army. Whoever has been testing Dartwood’s border. Now this.”

His hand went to his waist as he walked back toward us.

“We keep finding another layer.”

His male wolf stirred.

“This is getting too close.”

“I know,” I said.

Damian looked at Phina’s image on the screen.

“And she was inside Stonehedge all this time.”

Phina said nothing.

“Do you think there are others?” Damian asked.

“I don’t know,” Rhys answered. “But I’m checking everyone who had access to the old family systems.”

“Do it quietly,” Damian said. “I don’t want whoever is behind this knowing we’ve started looking in the right place.”

Rhys nodded.

The call ended shortly after that, but the problem stayed with me.

Later that evening, Magnus came to see me.

He did not sit immediately. He stood near the doorway, hands behind his back, looking older than he had that morning.

“You knew about Phina’s marriage to Harold,” I said.

“I approved it.”

I waited.

“I personally reviewed her background before I gave Harold my approval.”
