We returned to Stonehedge before sunset, with Mara in the back seat between two Dartwood warriors. She had barely spoken during the drive. Every few minutes, she checked the windows as though she expected the wolves who had taken her pack to appear beside us.

I understood the feeling.

The moment we entered the estate, I asked the warriors to take Mara to the guest wing and have a healer examine her. She was exhausted, dehydrated, and still shaking, but there were no serious injuries that needed immediate treatment.

Damian walked beside me toward the main hall.

“Callum needs to hear this,” he said.

“I know.”

Rhys had already contacted him.

Callum was waiting inside with two Voss security wolves when we entered. His attention went straight to Mara, then to me.

“What did she tell you?”

I repeated everything. The armed wolves. The forced shifting. The trucks. The silver symbol.

Callum listened without interrupting.

Then I said the words that had followed me all the way home.

“One of them called me the missing heir.”

His face changed.

It was brief, but I saw it.

“What does that mean?”

Callum did not answer.

I stepped closer. “You reacted to it.”

“I know the phrase.”

“Then explain it.”

He glanced toward Damian and Rhys before looking back at me.

“There were records in the Voss family archives. Old ones. They referred to a child from the First Alpha bloodline who was believed to have disappeared.”

My mouth went dry.

“A child?”

“Yes. A girl, according to the records. They believed she was born into the First Alpha line, but there was confusion about whether she was the only child.”

My heart beat faster.

“And you think that child was me?”

“I don’t know.”

“Then why call me the missing heir?”

“Because that is what the records called her. The title followed the file, not a confirmed identity.”

I stared at him.

“And you never thought to tell me this?”

“I didn’t know enough to tell you.”

“That has never stopped any of you before.”

Callum rubbed his hand across his jaw. “The records were incomplete. Most of them were written before you were born. The child was described as someone who carried a direct line of the First Alpha bloodline. The family believed she had been hidden after a threat against the bloodline.”

“Who hid her?”

“We never found that part.”

I stared at him.

All

my life, I had known there were things my family refused to discuss.

Garret had been secretive about certain records, certain names, and parts of my childhood. I had always assumed those secrets were connected to power and the bloodline.

Now I wondered if they had been connected to me.

“My father knew?”

Callum did not answer immediately.

“That is what I want to find out.”

I turned toward Rhys.

“Get every record we have from Garret.”

“We already have access to most of his business files,” Rhys said.

“Not just business files. Everything.”

He nodded and left.

Callum remained behind.

“You should prepare yourself,” he said.

“For what?”

“For the possibility that Garret knew more than he ever told you.”

I looked at him. “I’ve already prepared myself for that.”

He didn’t reply.

That silence told me more than I wanted it to.

F-Tech had always been more than a company to Garret. I knew that now. He had used its security systems to protect information that could not safely remain in family estates or pack archives.

Eugene arrived less than an hour later.

He brought two legal officers from his firm and went straight to the archive team. Because Garret had been the registered owner of several restricted sections, accessing some of the older records without authorization could create legal problems, even after everything that had happened.

Eugene handled it.

“I’ve established legal access under the current estate and company authority,” he told me. “Anything protected by a separate family trust will require another step, but the F-Tech archive itself is available.”

“Good.”

We moved into one of the secure conference rooms.

A large screen displayed the archive directory. Rhys entered Garret’s old credentials and then added the authorization Eugene had obtained.

Hundreds of files appeared.

Most were ordinary company documents. Contracts. Property records. Security reports. Old financial information.

Then Rhys found a section that did not belong there.

“Family records,” he said.

My fingers tightened around the edge of the table.

There were encrypted folders inside it.

Garret had created them years ago.

“Open them,” I said.

Rhys looked at Eugene.

“Some are marked bloodline restricted.”

Eugene nodded. “You have the authority.”

Damian had stayed beside me the entire time.

“Whatever is in there,” he said quietly, “I need you to know something.”

My throat tightened.

“You don’t know what it says.”

“I don’t need to.”

“You might after you see it.”

His eyes stayed on mine.

“Then I’ll deal with it with you.”

I looked down at our hands resting on the table. His fingers moved over mine once before he returned his attention to the screen.
