I Refuse To Be Your Luna (Flourish and Harold) novel Chapter 307

Chapter 307 The Other Child

Lady Flourish

The screen stayed in front of me, but I could not make myself look away.

The girl beside me had my face.

I leaned closer to the screen, searching for anything that could prove I was mistaken.

The photograph showed me as a child, but the girl beside me was not someone I remembered.

We stood close enough that our shoulders touched, and she had one hand resting against my

arm.

“Who is she?” I asked.

Nobody answered immediately.

My female wolf moved restlessly inside me.

“She smells familiar.”

I closed my eyes for a moment, but the wolf could not give me more.

There was no scent attached to the photograph that I could follow, only the strange reaction in my body whenever I looked at the girl’s face.

Rhys enlarged the image.

“There are no other copies in this folder.”

“Search the family records,” I said.

He did.

My official birth records showed one child. Every school record, medical file, family registry, and legal document listed only me.

Even the old pack records Garret had kept contained no reference to another daughter.

Yet the photograph existed.

And Garret had stored it in a restricted archive.

I looked at Callum. “You knew.”

“I knew there had been rumors.”

“Rumors about what?”

“Another child.”

The room went quiet.

Callum folded his arms. “I heard whispers when I was younger. Nothing concrete. Some people said there was another girl in the family.

Others claimed it was a child connected to the bloodline but not actually part of the family.”

“You believed it was gossip?”

“I did.”

I looked back at the photograph.

“Then why did Garret keep this?”

“That is what we’re trying to find out.”

Rhys continued searching through the archive. His fingers moved quickly across the keyboard while Eugene reviewed the legal documents that gave us access.

Then Rhys stopped.

“I found something.”

He opened the photograph’s metadata.

The original file date was older than the date shown in the folder.

“This photograph was copied.”

“From where?”

“I don’t know yet. The source path was removed, but the file contains an old archive reference.”

He ran another search.

A list of deleted files appeared.

My stomach tightened.

“Can you recover them?”

“Some.”

He opened one.

It contained a partial archive entry, most of the text damaged.

The only readable words were “First Alpha lineage, secondary record, restricted transfer.”

I stared at the screen.

“Could she be my sister?”

Callum looked at the photograph again.

“She could be.”

“Or my cousin?”

“Yes.”

“What about bloodline magic?”

He hesitated.

“That is possible too.”

I hated that answer.

Everything around me had become possible.

My family had hidden information about my birth. The bloodline had secrets no one wanted to explain. Ancient records had called someone a missing heir, and now there was a child who looked exactly like me standing in a photograph Garret had tried to bury.

“Can we trace where the photograph was copied from?” I asked.

Rhys shook his head.

“The original archive was deleted, but I may be able to recover fragments.”

“Do it.”

“I already started.”

“Good.”

I pushed my chair back.

“I need air.”

Damian stood immediately.

“I’ll come with you.”

I did not argue.

We left the conference room and walked down the quiet corridor. The estate was unusually still, with most of the guards stationed outside and the rest monitoring the security system after what had happened at Grey Ridge.

Damian opened the door to the rear garden.

Cold air touched my face.

I walked toward the stone wall and stopped there.

For a while, neither of us spoke.

“I am tired,” I finally said.

Damian leaned against the wall beside me.

“I know.”

“No. I mean I’m really tired.” I looked down at my hands. “Every time I think I’ve finally understood my life, another part of it appears and everyone else already knows about it.”

He said nothing.

“That girl was standing beside me. I should remember her.”

“You were young.”

“That doesn’t explain why everyone else forgot her.”

“Maybe they were made to forget.”

I turned to him.

“Do you think that’s possible?”

“With what we’ve seen? I don’t know anymore.”

My wolf shifted beneath my skin.

“She reacts whenever I look at the photograph,” I said. “But she can’t identify the girl’s scent.”

Damian’s expression tightened.

“Then don’t try to force the answer tonight.”

“I want to know.”

“I know.”

“I want to know who she is, where she went, why nobody told me, and why my father kept her photograph.”

“You will.”

His hand found mine.

I looked at our fingers.

“I shouldn’t have to carry all this.”

“You don’t.”

I swallowed.

“Everyone keeps saying they are protecting me. Callum. Garret. My family. They all made decisions for me because they thought I couldn’t handle the truth.”

Damian turned toward me.

“You don’t have to carry every secret alone.”

I looked at him.

“I mean it,” he said. “If you need to tear through every record in that archive, I’ll be there. If you need to stop, I’ll stay. You don’t have to figure out who you are by yourself.”

I rested my head briefly against his shoulder.

For once, I did not need an answer.

After a few minutes, my phone vibrated.
