315 The Secobd Heir
Lady Flourish POV
For years, I had believed I was the only surviving child of my parents. Then I learned there had been another vessel, a sister whose existence had been erased from the records.
Now I was standing outside a building where she had supposedly been hidden, trying to prepare myself for the possibility that the woman inside was really her.
Damian stayed beside me as Rhys led us through the damaged settlement.
The building looked abandoned from the outside. Its windows were covered, the walls were worn, and weeds had grown around the entrance. But the moment I stepped through the doorway, my wolf reacted.
She pushed forward so quickly that my breathing changed.
“She’s here.”
I stopped.
Damian looked at me. “You feel her?”
I nodded. “My wolf does.”
Her presence was faint, but I could feel another wolf somewhere inside the building. It was familiar in a way I could not explain.
“Blood,” my wolf whispered.
We moved deeper into the building.
The air changed near the inner hallway. Thin lines had been carved into the walls and floor, forming old protective wards.
Some were almost faded, but others still carried enough wolf energy that I could feel them through my skin.
Damian crouched beside one of the markings.
“These are old.”
“Can you tell what they do?”
“Protection. Concealment too. Whoever built this place didn’t want anyone tracking the wolf inside.”
We followed the markings until they led us to a heavy wooden door. Damian reached for the handle.
The wards flashed.
He pulled his hand back. A low growl came from behind the door.
My wolf answered before I could stop her.
“Open it.”
The lock clicked.
The door moved slowly, and I saw her.
She stood at the far end of the room with her back against the wall.
She looked almost exactly like the woman in the security image, but seeing her in person was different. She had my eyes, my mother’s face, and the same dark hair.
Her wolf was awake beneath her skin.
She stared at me without moving.
“Flourish,” she said.
Hearing my name from her mouth made my stomach tighten.
“You know me.”
“I know exactly who you are.”
Damian stepped slightly in front of me.
She immediately bared her teeth.
“Don’t.”
Damian stopped, but his wolf was already pushing against him. I could see the change in his eyes.
“She isn’t going to hurt you,” he said.
“I wasn’t talking about her. I’m talking about you.”
I touched Damian’s arm. “It’s fine.”
He looked at me before stepping back.
The woman watched the movement carefully. “You trust him.”
“Yes.”
She seemed surprised.
I looked at her again. “What’s your name?”
Her expression changed.
“They called me different names after they took me away. The name our mother gave me was Elara.”
Elara.
My sister had a name.
I swallowed. “Why didn’t you come back?”
Her eyes hardened. “Because our father made sure I couldn’t.”
I took a step toward her.
She immediately moved away.
“Don’t come closer.”
I stopped.
“He separated us on purpose,” she said. “It wasn’t because he thought one of us was safer somewhere else. He knew what would happen if both bloodline vessels were raised together.”
“What would happen?”
“Something?”
