Chapter 78 Stay Silent
Lady Flourish’s POV
Just as Damian and I were leaving, I heard Devina’s surprised voice rise behind us.
“Grandpa, why don’t you let me take Flourish to the hospital instead?”
There was a hint of confusion in her tone, as though she genuinely couldn’t understand why Alpha Magnus had entrusted the task to Damian.
Unfortunately for her, the ballroom doors closed before I could hear the rest of the conversation.
A few minutes later, I found myself following Damian toward the black Bentley parked outside the venue.
The night air was cool against my skin, and for the first time since stepping onto the stage earlier, exhaustion began to settle into my bones.
The adrenaline that had carried me through the ceremony was fading, leaving behind nothing but a dull ache in my arm and a lingering worry for my grandmother.
After getting into the passenger seat, I realized something was missing.
There was no driver.
The realization made a strange sense of awkwardness creep over me. Part of it stemmed from the chaos I had unleashed at the Luna Rite. The other part was something I couldn’t quite put a
name to.
I lowered my gaze and spoke softly.
“Driving yourself today, Alpha Damian?”
He slid into the driver’s seat and casually fastened his seatbelt. “Yeah. The driver took the day
off.”
A faint smile tugged at his lips.
“His wife is expecting another round of pups.”
I blinked. Another round?
My brows knitted together slightly.

Wolves rarely had litters larger than three or four pups at a time. More importantly, wasn’t his driver already in his forties or fifties?
Was he really planning to have more children at that age?
The thought seemed strange to me, but I simply nodded. “Oh, I see.”
For several moments, neither of us spoke.
The engine remained silent.
The car didn’t move.
Confused, I turned toward him. “Aren’t you going to drive, Alpha Damian?”
Before I could process what was happening, his hand brushed lightly across my abdomen. The contact lasted only a second.
His fingers were cool against the thin fabric of my dress, yet the brief touch made me freeze completely.
My breath caught in my throat.
Then I heard his calm voice.
“I can drive.” His eyes flicked toward me.
“But you need to buckle up first.”
Heat immediately flooded my face. Embarrassed, I reached for the seatbelt too quickly and accidentally tugged at the bandages beneath my dress.
Pain shot through my shoulder. I winced.
Damian’s expression changed immediately. “Does it hurt?” His gaze settled on the bandaged
area.
“A little.” I lowered my head.
The discomfort wasn’t unbearable. Compared to the fear of losing my grandmother, it hardly seemed worth mentioning.
Damian studied me for several moments before speaking again. “Stop wearing off-shoulder dresses for a while.”
His tone carried the quiet authority of an Alpha used to being obeyed. “You’re still recovering. Keep yourself warm.”

His eyes remained fixed on the injured shoulder. “With a fracture like that, exposure to cold weather can slow recovery.”
I wasn’t sure how he had figured out the exact nature of my injury, but I didn’t question it.
Instead, I simply nodded.
At that moment, my grandmother occupied every corner of my thoughts.
Nothing else seemed important.
The remainder of the drive passed in silence.
Streetlights slid across the windows as the Bentley cut through the sleeping city. Damian never attempted to fill the quiet, and strangely enough, I appreciated that.
When we arrived at the hospital, he accompanied me all the way upstairs.
His expression remained steady and unreadable throughout the journey.
When we reached the intensive care floor, he offered to come inside.
I politely declined.
Grandma didn’t need a crowd around her
bedside, and truthfully, I wasn’t in the mood to entertain anyone.
Fortunately, Damian didn’t insist.
He simply nodded and watched me walk away.
Grandma’s condition had stabilized by then, but the head healer’s report did little to ease my
worries.
“Her vital signs are stable,” he explained, glancing through several documents. “However, she won’t regain consciousness anytime soon.”
The words landed heavily in my chest.
The healer continued speaking.
“Because she’s unable to eat normally, you’ll need to prepare liquid meals three times a day. Nutrition will be administered through a feeding tube.”
He handed me a list.

“I also recommend purchasing a supply of Silvermoon Essence. Wolves recovering from severe neurological injuries often require additional nutrients to maintain muscle strength and aid healing.”
I immediately pulled out my phone and began recording every instruction.
By the time the discussion ended, I already had a rough plan forming in my head.
I would take a week off from F-Tech.
Once Grandma’s condition stabilized, I would bring her home.
I could hire a professional caregiver and arrange regular healer visits. That way I could look after her personally while still making sure she received proper care.
One sleepless night was all it took for me to reorganize my entire life around her recovery.
What puzzled me most was my father.
He had appeared briefly the previous evening, only to vanish without a trace afterward.
The thought had barely crossed my mind when the elevator doors opened nearby.
I looked up and immediately saw Garrett, Lydia, and Selene stepping out.
Selene spotted me first. “Flourish, why did you rush off last night?” she asked. “Why didn’t wait for us?”

I continued organizing the nutritional supplements on the counter without looking up. “I told you there was no need for any of you to come.”
My voice remained calm. “I can take care of Grandma myself.” Only then did I raise my eyes. “So do us all a favor and stop upsetting her while she’s sick.”
The smile vanished from Garrett’s face immediately. “Flourish.”
His tone sharpened. “Watch your attitude.”
He took several steps forward. “I’m your father, and she’s my mother. Why can’t I be here?”
I looked at him quietly. For a moment, I simply studied his face.
Then I spoke. “Oh.” A trace of mockery entered my voice. “So now you remember she’s your mother?”
Garrett’s jaw tightened.. “Flourish, stop the sarcasm and speak properly.”

The argument was beginning to attract attention. Several nearby healers glanced in our direction.
Before either of us could continue, the head healer emerged from a nearby office. “This is a hospital, not a marketplace,” he said sternly. “Keep your voices down.”
Without another word, I walked toward the elevator and pressed the button. When the doors opened, I turned back toward them.
“Go downstairs.” My tone left no room for discussion. “You can’t visit her right now.”
I stepped in front of the hallway entrance. “Whatever you want to say can wait until Grandma wakes up.
I don’t have the energy to deal with this today.”
Lydia immediately tugged at Garrett’s sleeve.
