I Refuse To Be Your Luna (Flourish and Harold) novel Chapter 89

Chapter 89 Family

Alpha Damian’s POV

The scent surrounding the inside of the car was driving my wolf to the edge.

Flourish’s pheromones filled every corner of the cabin, carrying a sweetness that was far stronger than normal. Whatever had been mixed into that water had not only weakened her body but had also thrown her wolf into complete chaos.

I kept my breathing slow and even. Losing control now would make everything worse.

She shifted weakly in my arms before suddenly trying to untangle herself from my embrace.

“I didn’t… Alpha Damian?”

Her voice was soft and slurred as she lifted her head. Her face stopped only inches from mine, close enough for me to feel the warmth of every uneven breath she took.

My Adam’s apple bobbed.

Every instinct inside me screamed to pull her closer, yet I forced my wolf back with everything I had. “Be a good girl,” I said quietly. “Call me Damian.”

She blinked at me several times before wrinkling her nose. “Nope.”

Despite her refusal, the corner of my lips almost lifted.

She tried to stand on her own, but the moment her feet touched the floor of the vehicle, her knees buckled.

I caught her immediately, one hand steadying her waist before she could fall.

“Why?” I asked gently. “Flourish… why don’t you see me as an older brother?”

She looked at me with eyes clouded by the effects of the drug, then slowly lifted one finger and pointed it directly at my face.

“I hate that.”

I waited patiently.

“I hate that ‘I only see her as a little sister’ excuse.” Her words came out slowly, but each one landed with surprising clarity.

“How do you explain someone flirting with his own sister-in-law?” She frowned as if trying to

“Harold and Phina…She was Rowan’s mate. So she’s basically his sister-in-law.Still…they flirted, and made out, and did all sorts of foolish stuff.”

I understood immediately what she meant. She wasn’t really talking about me.

She was talking about Harold, about the excuse he had hidden behind for years.

A quiet laugh almost escaped me. “I see.” I cleared my throat before answering calmly. “If that’s how you feel, I won’t push it.”

She seemed satisfied by that answer and stopped arguing.

Unfortunately, she also refused to stay still.

She continued wriggling restlessly in my arms while I adjusted my grip again and again to stop her from slipping.

Every accidental brush against my chest only made my wolf grow more restless.

Control.

That was all I could think about.

Control yourself.

Suddenly…

She became completely quiet. Tiny tears gathered in the corners of her eyes before rolling silently down her cheeks.

“I’m sorry…” Her voice trembled. “Grandma… I couldn’t get the bracelet.”

She tried to hold back her sobs, but they escaped anyway. “I couldn’t buy it… Grandma… She’ll understand… Right?”

Something inside my chest tightened painfully.

I lifted my thumb and gently wiped away the tears sliding across her cheeks.

Then I reached beside me for the small velvet bag resting on the seat.

Carefully opening it, I removed the bracelet from inside. I took her trembling wrist into my hand and fastened it around her slender arm.

The silver bracelet shimmered beneath the cabin lights.

“Don’t cry, Little Flower. I bought the bracelet for you.”

She stared blankly at her wrist. Her glossy eyes slowly lifted toward mine. For several seconds, she simply looked confused.

Then panic exploded across her face. “You stole it?”

She immediately grabbed the bracelet, trying to pull it off.

“No. I don’t want it! Take it back. I’m not going to prison for this. You’re the thief. You go to prison yourself!!”

I closed my eyes briefly. Anyone seeing her now would assume she was drunk.

Only I knew she had been drugged.

A helpless smile touched my lips. “I didn’t steal it. I bought it.”

She looked unconvinced. Really unconvinced.

Meanwhile, my own situation was becoming increasingly difficult.

Her scent continued surrounding me.

My wolf wanted nothing more than to comfort her, protect her, and stay close to her.

Every second inside this confined space tested my restraint.

Finally, I said firmly, “Stop moving. If you don’t… I’ll punish you.”

She immediately sat perfectly upright. Then she nodded vigorously.

“I’ll behave.”

Her obedient expression nearly shattered the composure I had spent years cultivating.

I drew a slow breath and closed my eyes.

Then silently pushed every inappropriate thought back into the deepest corner of my mind.

She was injured.

Drugged.

Scared.

The only thing that mattered now was getting her treated safely.

Nothing else.

Several minutes later, the Bentley finally stopped outside the hospital.

Jake happened to be covering the emergency department that afternoon.

Judging from the exhausted look on his face, he had just finished cleaning up after another long shift.

The moment I pushed open the consultation room door, he groaned without even looking up.

“For heaven’s sake… Who is it now?”

Then he raised his head. His expression froze.

“You again?”

His gaze shifted toward the woman in my arms. Recognition flashed across his face immediately. “Flourish?”

I walked straight toward him.

“Cut the nonsense. She was drugged. Get me a female healer.”

Jake rolled his eyes.

“You could’ve just volunteered to save her yourself. You didn’t have to drag her all the way here.”

I slowly turned my head toward him.

My Alpha aura leaked out without restraint.

The room’s temperature seemed to drop several degrees.

“I’m not taking advantage of her.”

Jake stiffened almost instantly. He scratched his cheek awkwardly.

“Relax. I was joking.”

“I don’t find your jokes funny.” The seriousness in my voice finally wiped the grin off his face.

“All right. My mistake. I’ll call someone.”

Within moments, Jake hurried out and returned with one of the hospital’s senior female

The healer approached Flourish carefully and immediately frowned.

“She’s barely staying conscious.”

She examined Flourish for several moments before speaking quietly.

“It’s strong. The drug contains substances that overstimulate a wolf’s instincts and make them increasingly irritable.”

As she continued the examination, her expression became even more serious.

“She bit her tongue.”
