I Refuse To Be Your Luna (Flourish and Harold) novel Chapter 90

Chapter 90 His Answer

Lady Flourish’s POV

Finished

When I finally opened my eyes, the first thing I noticed was the weakness spreading through every inch of my body.

My limbs felt heavy as though they no longer belonged to me, while a dull ache lingered at the back of my head. For several seconds, I simply lay there in silence, trying to gather my thoughts as the events before I lost consciousness slowly drifted back into place.

I rubbed my eyes gently before turning my head.

A pair of deep green eyes met mine. “Damian?”

His expression softened almost imperceptibly.

“It’s me.”

The simple reply completely cleared the remaining haze in

my

mind.

I remembered leaving the auction hall, feeling my body collapse without warning, realizing too late that the water had been drugged, locking myself inside the restroom, clutching my knife while preparing for the worst, and then hearing his voice outside the door before everything afterward dissolved into scattered fragments.

“You saved me.” A wave of gratitude filled my chest. “Thank you.”

He looked at me quietly for a moment, and a faint smile touched the corner of his lips before disappearing just as quickly. It almost seemed as though he had wanted to say something else but decided against it.

Instead, he spoke in his usual calm voice.

“The doctor said you’ll be fine once this IV finishes. The wound on your tongue will take a few days to heal, though, so stick to soft foods for now or it’ll sting like hell.”

I couldn’t help smiling.

“Thank you… Alpha D.”

The nickname slipped out before I could stop myself.

It felt strange calling him Damian directly after years of addressing him respectfully, yet “Alpha Damien” suddenly felt too distant.

His eyebrows lifted ever so slightly.

“Alpha D?”

I nodded awkwardly.

“It sounded… shorter.”

A quiet chuckle escaped him. “I’ll allow it.”

Relief spread across me, and for the first time since Grandma’s passing, I found myself smiling without forcing it.

Damien leaned farther back into the chair beside my bed and crossed his long legs with effortless ease.

Two buttons of his white shirt had been left undone, exposing the sharp line of his collarbone, while the sleeves remained rolled neatly to his forearms.

Even after rushing me to the hospital, he still looked composed in a way that made it difficult to imagine him ever losing control.

His gaze settled on me again. “Do you know who drugged you?”

I lowered my eyes, letting my hair fall forward to hide them.

“Yeah.”

He remained silent for a moment before asking another question.

“Do you need my help?”

I slowly shook my head. “I can handle this.”

Then I looked back at him. “Alpha D… does your offer still stand?”

His eyelashes lowered slightly as he narrowed his eyes. “What offer?”

“You once told me you’d make it up to me for Harold.”

My fingers tightened unconsciously around the blanket.

“You said I could ask for anything.”

A smile slowly curved across his lips. “I did.”

His voice carried complete certainty. “Anything.”

Without warning, he leaned closer.

The distance between us suddenly disappeared until all I could see were those impossibly deep green eyes. “Do you want to use that favor now?”

My heartbeat stumbled. “Yes.”

His smile grew a fraction warmer.

“Before that,” he said quietly, “I have one question.”

I swallowed nervously.

“Go on.”

For reasons I couldn’t explain, heat flooded my face, and I clenched the bedsheets so tightly that they wrinkled beneath my fingers. My wolf stirred restlessly inside me, threatening to release comforting pheromones into the room before I hurriedly suppressed the impulse.

His gaze never left mine.

“Are you seeing anyone right now?”

For a moment, I simply stared at him.

Then I tilted my head.

“You’re asking me?”

A soft laugh escaped him before he regained his usual composure.

“I’m not seeing anyone.”

His eyes searched mine carefully.

“Does that information have something to do with your request?”

I stared down at the blanket again.

The silence stretched between us for several long seconds before I found enough courage to

answer.

“Yeah…Kind of.”

He waited patiently, without the slightest hint of impatience or pressure.

“Don’t worry.”

“You can say it.”

“I promise I’ll agree to whatever you ask.”

Maybe I imagined it.

Maybe it was only because I was still weak.

But his voice sounded almost… encouraging.

I met those calm green eyes once again and gathered every ounce of courage I had left.

“I was wondering…”

“Do you maybe need a girlfriend?”

The words came out far more quietly than I intended.

“My family won’t stop interfering with my life unless I have someone beside me.”

I hesitated before continuing. “I need a boyfriend.”

“Could you…”

My heart hammered violently against my ribs.

“Could you pretend to be my boyfriend for six months?”

The room fell completely silent. I knew exactly what I was asking.

I wasn’t some naïve little girl who couldn’t recognize the way he looked at me.

Ever since the betrothal between Harold and me had fallen apart, I had noticed the subtle changes in Damian’s attitude. At the same time, I also knew I had to stay away from him if I wanted to avoid creating even more conflict between Harold and Phina.

Still…

If anyone could give me enough protection to deal with my family…

It was him.

His expression barely changed, yet something deep inside those emerald eyes shifted.

“I don’t want a girlfriend.”

Every trace of hope inside me froze.

Then he smiled.

“I want a Luna.”

The words struck me so suddenly that my mind went completely blank.

He continued before I could even react.

“Will you be my Luna?”

For several seconds, I honestly wondered whether I had misheard him.

Had he really…

Just proposed?

Seeing my stunned expression, his voice became gentler.

“Your hesitation is understandable. You’re still mourning your grandma.I won’t rush you.”

He leaned back slightly, allowing me room to breathe.

“But once you become my Luna, you won’t have to worry about trivial matters anymore.”

His confidence was absolute.

“You’ll have my backing. My entire pack will become your backing. If anyone dares wrong you… They’ll answer to me.”

His gaze never wavered.

“So… Will you consider it?”

I remained completely frozen.

My thoughts had become a tangled mess.

Of course I wanted his protection.

Six months would probably be enough for me to settle every problem with my family.

What I hadn’t expected…

What never once crossed my mind….
