I Refuse To Be Your Luna (Flourish and Harold) novel Chapter 97

Chapter 97 Finished

Lady Flourish’s POV

The following afternoon, my phone buzzed while I was finishing paperwork in the office attached to the farm.

I glanced at the screen before setting down my pen.

Zephyr, Damian’s housekeeper.

I had texted Damian the day before, requesting that he’d let the house know about the changes so that the workers could start working.

He suggested I contact his right hand man, but not quite Beta, Zephyr.

I exhaled and answered almost immediately. “Lady Flourish.”

His respectful voice came through the receiver. “The installers have finished replacing everything you ordered. Would you like to come by Stormbridge Manor and have a look?”

For a brief second, I stared at the documents spread across my desk.

I had almost forgotten.

Yesterday’s shopping trip had felt strangely domestic, yet I had somehow managed to replace nearly every soft furnishing inside Damian’s villa.

The curtains, the rugs, even the bedding.

Even the cushions scattered around the enormous living room. Everything had been delivered first thing this morning.

“I’ll head over now.”

“We’ll be expecting you.”

Stormbridge Manor was just as imposing as I remembered.

Tall black gates, ancient stone walls. An estate built less like a home and more like a fortress. belonging to an Alpha King.

The guards recognized my vehicle immediately. Without asking a single question, they opened the gates.

Apparently Damian had already informed everyone.

Or perhaps Zephyr had.

Either way… It felt strangely natural.

The thought made my wolf stir uneasily.

‘Don’t get used to it.

This is temporary.’

Everything about this arrangement is temporary.

I parked outside the villa before following one of the servants inside.

Zephyr was already waiting. He inclined his head respectfully. “Lady Flourish.”

“Sorry to trouble everyone.” A faint smile appeared on the elderly beta’s face. “It isn’t trouble at all.”

He gestured toward the living room. “The changes are inside.”

The moment I stepped through the doors, I paused.

Yesterday, the villa had felt cold. It was elegant and luxurious yes, but it felt empty.

Dark grey walls combined with black furniture had made the entire place feel like its owner- distant, untouchable, impossible to approach.

Now… Soft silver-grey curtains filtered the afternoon sunlight into the room.

The charcoal rugs warmed the polished floors.

Muted green plants sat beside the windows, breaking apart the overwhelming darkness without ruining Damian’s preferred colour palette.

The cream cushions softened the leather sofas. The entire villa still belonged to Damian.

It simply no longer felt like somewhere people merely visited. It finally resembled somewhere an Alpha could return home to.

My wolf looked around proudly.

‘Much better.’

I found myself smiling before I realized it. Zephyr quietly observed my reaction. “It suits the manor much better now.”

I blinked shyly. “I only adjusted a few things.”

“A few?” His eyes swept across the room. “I’ve worked here for twelve years. This is the first time this house has looked lived in.”

I laughed softly. “I hope Alpha Damian doesn’t hate it.”

Zephyr looked genuinely confused. “Hate it? Alpha Damian rarely notices decorations. He only notices whether a place is comfortable enough for everyone else.”

That… Wasn’t the answer I expected.

Somehow, it fit him. He wasn’t someone who cared whether the curtains were black or grey. He simply expected everything to function.

My gaze drifted toward the staircase. “Is he home?”

Zephyr shook his head. “The Alpha left before dawn. The Council requested his attendance. He likely won’t return until late tonight.”

I nodded slowly. That sounded more like the Damian I knew.

Always working, always carrying responsibilities no one else wanted.

Zephyr suddenly smiled. “Would you like to send Alpha Damian a picture?”

I blinked. “A picture?”

“I’m sure he’d appreciate seeing the changes.”

I instinctively reached for my phone before stopping halfway.

Wouldn’t that be… too familiar?

My wolf snorted.

‘You’re literally moving into his house. You’re worried about sending a picture?’

… Fair point.

I took several photographs from different angles before choosing the best one. After staring at the screen for nearly a minute, I finally typed.

‘Everything’s finished. I tried not to change your preferred colours too much. If there’s anything you don’t like, I’ll have it replaced.’

I pressed send. Almost immediately, embarrassment crept up my neck.

Finished

Why did that sound like I was seeking his approval? I was about to put my phone away when it vibrated.

My heartbeat skipped. His reply was unexpectedly quick.

‘Looks good.’

A second message appeared before I could even process the first.

‘Whatever my Luna decides becomes the standard.’
