Finn opened his mouth to reply.
"No, Sienna, the truth is..."
The door swung open.
Chloe stood in the doorway, clutching York's hand.
York was wearing a cartoon hoodie, his little hand gripping a colorful drawing with a folded corner.
Chloe's face bore the undeniable look of someone who had panicked and was now desperately trying to maintain composure. Her makeup was flawless, but her eyes kept darting around, terrified of meeting Sienna's gaze.
She walked straight past Sienna and zeroed in on Finn.
"Finn, York has been missing you so much. He hasn't slept in days, constantly asking for his dad."
Her voice was sickly sweet, dripping with forced affection.
She sneaked a pathetic glance at Sienna before instantly looking away.
"Darling, you always used to tuck our son in. He can't cope without you now."
Finn instantly shot a panicked look at Sienna before turning a lethal glare onto Chloe.
"I am not your husband. Don't ever call me that again."
Chloe froze, all the color draining from her face.
Finn pressed on ruthlessly.
"We aren't legally married, and we never had a wedding. Did you conveniently forget that?"
As he spoke, he nervously monitored Sienna's reaction.
Chloe was thrown into a full-blown panic.
She never expected Finn to be this brutal and unforgiving in public.
She frantically recalled Yolanda's strict instructions before they left.
York was her ultimate trump card.
He was the only thing that could ever make Finn stay.
She had to play this angle flawlessly.
Chloe's hand twitched, and she discreetly shoved York forward.
The little boy stumbled a step closer to the bed.
He broke into a run, throwing his tiny arms around Finn's legs.
Looking up with bright, innocent eyes, he proudly held up the piece of paper.
He couldn't force the words out.
He simply couldn't shatter the illusion and drop the brutal truth right in front of a completely innocent child.
Sienna stood perfectly still, watching the entire pathetic display unfold.
Her face was a mask of cold, terrifying indifference.
She gave Finn one final, icy glare of absolute finality.
Then she turned on her heel and walked out.
Her strides were fast and sharp, and she didn't look back once.
Finn watched her retreating figure vanish through the doorway, his lips parting in a silent, agonizing cry that never escaped his throat.
With York still clinging to him, he couldn't push the boy away to chase her.
All he could do was watch helplessly as she walked out of his life—just like she had four years ago. All over again.
Watching Sienna disappear, Chloe's lips twitched into a subtle, intensely triumphant smirk.
She stepped forward and gently pulled York from Finn's embrace.
"Finn, when do you think you'll be discharged?"
