Sienna might ignore being labeled the other woman, but she would never accept being called "unworthy."
She had succeeded. As long as she could inflict even a fraction of pain upon Sienna, this trip was entirely worth it.
Finally, a triumphant, gloating smile spread across Chloe's face.
"Finn hasn't come looking for you in a while, has he?"
"Sienna! You need to come outside! Captain Fletcher from Global Air is here, and he's making a massive scene!"
Penny ran over, panting heavily, her face flushed with excitement.
Chloe's grip instantly went slack.
Her face twisted in sheer disbelief... What the hell was going on?
At that very moment, the main entrance of the hospital was in total chaos.
A fleet of sleek black SUVs had swarmed the entrance. Uniformed personnel were rushing back and forth, hauling massive crates inside.
Mountains of fresh flowers, fruit baskets, state-of-the-art medical equipment, children's toys, and crates of books were being rapidly unloaded into the lobby.
The commotion had alerted the entire hospital administration. Director Harrison had personally hurried down to welcome the spectacle.
As Sienna and Penny stepped out of the ER, they froze, staring at the literal mountains of expensive supplies flooding the atrium.
Penny's eyes sparkled like diamonds.
"Sienna, it's Captain Fletcher! He donated all of this! He said it was a token of gratitude for the hospital's exceptional care!"
Sienna stood perfectly still, silently taking in the extravagant display.
Director Harrison shook Finn's hand, grinning from ear to ear.
"Captain Fletcher, words cannot express our gratitude. This is simply... incredibly generous of you."
"It's the least I could do," Finn replied, his voice calm but authoritative. "Your hospital healed my injuries and ensured my prompt return to flight duty. This pale in comparison to what your staff has given me."
Director Harrison eagerly barked orders for staff to inventory the donations while enthusiastically coordinating a press photo.
The staff unfurled a massive red banner that read: "In Deepest Gratitude to the Honorable Captain Finn Fletcher for His Philanthropic Generosity."
"Captain Fletcher, please, let's take a group photo," Director Harrison urged warmly.
Finn took his place right in the center of the crowd.
Wearing his sharp navy trench coat, he looked impossibly handsome and commanding, like a model stepping straight out of a luxury magazine spread.
"And Mr. Zane!" Director Harrison spotted Paxton lingering on the sidelines. "Mr. Zane, you must join us. Your work on the mural project is a massive contribution as well."
Paxton casually strolled over, planting himself right next to Finn.
The two men exchanged a tense, wordless glare.
"And Dr. Sterling," Finn suddenly demanded.
Director Harrison blinked, caught off guard.
"Dr. Sienna Sterling," Finn clarified loudly. "She was my attending physician during my recovery. Without her, I wouldn't have healed half as fast. She must be in this photo."
Paxton immediately chimed in.
"I agree. Dr. Sterling's contributions are immeasurable. She's the primary reason the mural project even exists."
Director Harrison scanned the perimeter of the crowd.
Sienna was hovering on the outer edge, dressed in her crisp white lab coat with a stethoscope draped around her neck, fully intending to escape back to the ER.
He stepped into the true center of the formation.
The photographer raised his heavy camera.
"Alright, everyone look here! One, two, three!"
Click.
Chloe stood frozen in the lobby, watching the entire humiliating spectacle unfold through the glass partition.
The extravagant flowers, the millions in donations, the massive banner, the fawning executives, the flashing cameras.
And Sienna, standing flawlessly in the dead center, flanked by a powerful billionaire pilot on one side, a legendary artist on the other, and a respected doctor guarding her front.
Everyone was smiling.
Why her?
Chloe's fingernails bit viciously into her palms.
Why did Sienna get to exert zero effort, doing absolutely nothing but standing there, while the most powerful men in the city revolved around her like she was the damn sun?
Once the chaotic photo op finally concluded and the crowd dispersed.
Paxton called out to stop Sienna from leaving.
"What now?" she asked.
Paxton pulled a thick manila folder from his leather bag and held it out to her.
"I've thought about this a lot, and I've finally decided. I want you to have this."
