I Stopped Loving Him When He Let Me Bleed Out novel Chapter 138

But Sienna was still utterly trapped in her delirious, hallucinogenic memories, oblivious to reality.

"Driver, step on it!"

Just get to the hospital—once they reached the hospital, everything would be fine.

Sienna's current state clearly proved that her mind was completely compromised.

Oblivious to Finn's agonizing panic, she remained thoroughly immersed in her own warped reality.

"Finn, I do."

Those three sudden words struck Finn like a physical blow.

He sat absolutely frozen, incapable of even twitching.

Staring at Sienna's outstretched hand, he instantly recognized the gesture.

It was the exact way she had held out her ring finger the day he proposed to her.

That day, he had dropped to one knee, pulled the velvet box from his pocket, and snapped it open to reveal the diamond.

She had gasped, covering her mouth as the tears spilled over.

He had asked her, "Will you marry me?" and without a word, she had simply offered him her hand, spreading her ring finger slightly.

And those were the exact words she had said to him.

"Finn, I do."

Now, she was saying them all over again.

Finn stared at her beautifully outstretched hand, noting the slight spread of her ring finger.

His heart was bleeding out, drop by agonizing drop.

Unable to look away from her delicate hand, he slowly reached out and enveloped it in his own.

He didn't have a diamond ring to slip on her finger right now, so holding her hand was all he could do.

He laced his fingers firmly through hers, locking their hands together tightly.

Sienna's hand was small, incredibly soft.

The second he tightened his grip, a beautiful smile bloomed across her face.

Satisfied, Sienna gently rested her head back against his shoulder and let her eyes flutter shut.

She never loosened her grip on his hand, her breathing slowly evening out as she finally succumbed to exhaustion.

Finn slumped back against the worn seat, staring blankly out the grimy window.

The sun was finally breaking through the heavy clouds, casting a weak, golden hue over the desolate landscape.

His left arm had gone entirely numb, the blood still steadily dripping onto the floorboards.

But he couldn't feel a shred of physical pain.

Her face instantly ignited, a furious heat rushing from her throat all the way up to her cheeks.

She realized with absolute horror that the drug had completely obliterated her self-control, causing her to behave like a desperate maniac... So, what the hell was she supposed to do now?

Suddenly, Finn shifted. He was waking up...

Sienna snapped her eyes shut, instantly deciding that playing dead was her safest option.

When Finn roused, his first instinct was to check on Sienna. Then, he glanced down at their joined hands, gently stroking his thumb across her knuckles before slowly loosening his grip.

He carefully tucked her arm beneath the sterile blanket, then sat up straight, rubbing the brutal crick in his neck and rolling his stiff shoulders.

He stood up and headed for the water pitcher.

Sienna kept her eyes reduced to tiny slits, covertly spying on him through her lashes.

Dark stubble coated Finn's sharp jawline, and deep, bruised circles shadowed his eyes.

His left arm was heavily wrapped in thick white bandages, stretching all the way from his wrist to his elbow. Unable to use his left arm, he awkwardly manhandled the pitcher with his right hand to pour a glass of water.

Staring at the stark white gauze and the faint crimson stains blooming through the fabric, the horrific reality of last night slammed into her.

Two massive men. Two hunting knives.

He had thrown himself between her and the blades, risking his life to protect her. If he hadn't been there last night, she would have undoubtedly been slaughtered...

"Doesn't it hurt your eyes to squint like that?"
