I Stopped Loving Him When He Let Me Bleed Out novel Chapter 153

The sound was faint and muffled.

Sienna and Paxton snapped their heads up almost in unison, straining their ears to listen.

The noise grew steadily louder.

Until a single point of light pierced the distant darkness, blinking rhythmically.

"Is that him?" Paxton exclaimed, his voice vibrating with excitement.

Sienna didn't answer.

But tears were already spilling uncontrollably from her eyes.

The light grew larger, approaching faster and faster.

The beam illuminated the makeshift runway, revealing the fuselage.

It was white with blue stripes on the tail.

It was the exact same plane Finn had taken!

The aircraft bounced roughly upon landing, the nose dipping dangerously low before jerking back up.

It taxied, ground to a halt, and the engine finally sputtered out.

The cabin door popped open, and Finn jumped down, clutching a large white plastic bag in his hand.

He sprinted furiously toward the house where Sienna was waiting.

His left arm hung practically useless, but he gritted his teeth and ran, his pace accelerating with every stride.

He had been terrified out of his mind.

Terrified that if he was even one second late, Sienna would meet a horrific end.

The villagers had dispersed into the shadows at some point.

Leaving only Chief Aris standing silently by the runway.

Sienna bolted outside, sprinting desperately toward Finn's approaching figure.

They slammed into each other. Finn wrapped her in a fierce, crushing embrace before pulling back just enough to shove the bag into her hands.

The edge of the plastic was smeared with a streak of dark crimson blood. It was impossible to tell if the wound on his arm had torn open again or if he had sliced his fingers.

"The medicine. Check it."

Sienna grabbed the bag, not even taking a second to check on Finn.

She spun around, sprinted into the house, and dropped to her knees beside the boy to prep the dosage and inject him.

By the time the third shot was administered, the child's eyelashes fluttered, and his breathing slowly leveled out.

Without taking a moment to breathe, Sienna rushed right back out to find Finn.

Finn had collapsed onto the dirt in total exhaustion, with Paxton crouching beside him to keep an eye on him.

Seeing Sienna approach, Paxton immediately stepped aside to give her room.

She saw that Finn's face was coated in grime, with a fresh, jagged gash across his forehead where the blood had already dried.

The bandage on his left arm had unraveled, a strip of it hanging loose.
