I Stopped Loving Him When He Let Me Bleed Out novel Chapter 179

Sienna's eyes were glued to the two of them.

Her heart was hammering so violently she swore it was going to crack her ribs.

She watched in agonizing suspense as Finn approached, but before he even got close, Maeve had already snatched the photograph off the pavement and crushed it into her palm.

There was absolutely something wrong with Maeve!

Finn closed the distance, crouching down to offer her a hand.

"Ma'am, I am so incredibly sorry. I took that turn far too aggressively. Let me help you up—if you're injured, I will take full responsibility for..."

"I'm not dead," Maeve snapped, cutting him off cold.

Her voice was rough and jagged, like granite grinding against concrete.

She never even lifted her head to look at him.

She roughly swatted Finn's outstretched hand away, bracing her palm against the freezing asphalt and shoving herself to her feet completely unassisted.

Sienna's hyper-fixated gaze never left Maeve's clenched fist.

She watched as Maeve rapidly shoved the crumpled photograph deep into her pocket.

Then, the older woman stooped down, methodically shoving her scattered supplies back into the leather bag.

Finn knelt back down to help her gather the mess, but she radiated an absolute, glacial hostility, completely shutting him out.

It was wrong. This was all entirely wrong!

Sienna knew Maeve was exceptionally abrasive, but her visceral repulsion toward Finn was wildly out of proportion.

Throughout the entire chaotic interaction, Maeve hadn't spared him a single glance.

She was treating him with infinitely more venom than she had shown the abhorrent tourist who broke the deer's leg, and that made zero sense.

Sienna had no idea why she was suddenly suffocating with tension, but her palms were slick with nervous sweat.

Finn stood perfectly still, watching as Maeve slung the heavy medical kit over her shoulder.

"Ma'am, I still need to take you to the hospital to get checked out."

"I said no."

Maeve finally looked up.

It was a split-second glance.

As fast as a flinching reflex.

Sienna immediately dashed over, stepping between them.

"Maeve, let's take you back to our clinic. It's much safer to have you thoroughly checked out."

As she called out the older woman's name, she intensely monitored Finn's reaction.

"You two know each other?" Finn asked, looking at Sienna in surprise.

Sienna completely ignored him, her eyes still locked like a laser on Maeve.
