"It's incredible. Out of everywhere in the world, I still managed to find you."
Sienna shifted uncomfortably under his intense, burning stare.
"Fine, Paxton must have told you. But I'm telling you right now, I am here to work. I don't want you bothering me."
"I..."
Before Finn could finish, a warm, overly cheerful voice drifted over from the side.
"Oh, sweetie, you're just far too kind-hearted. You're always rushing in to help everyone, but you have to be careful."
Finn froze as he turned toward the voice, genuine surprise crossing his face before he politely greeted her.
"Mrs. Holloway? What are you doing out here? And... what did you just call her?"
Eleanor warmly hooked her arm through Sienna's, beaming brightly at Finn.
"Well, look who it is! Finn! What an absolute coincidence, are you out here on vacation too?"
She cast a proud, radiant smile at Sienna before turning back to Finn to make the grand introduction.
"Finn, let me formally introduce you. This is my future daughter-in-law, your good buddy's girlfriend, Sienna Sterling. She's a doctor too, works right alongside my Isaac..."
"Eleanor! Eleanor, wait—"
Sienna completely panicked, her face burning hotter than a furnace. She desperately reached out to cover Eleanor's mouth, but halfway there, she realized how wildly inappropriate that was. Her hand hovered uselessly in the air, and she wanted nothing more than for the earth to open up and swallow her whole.
But the damage was already done.
The color completely drained from Finn's face, a terrifying storm brewing in his eyes.
"Future daughter-in-law? Girlfriend?"
"Exactly! Did Isaac not tell you yet?" Eleanor beamed with utter conviction, throwing a teasing glance at a mortified Sienna. "Look at her, she's still so shy about it."
"Mrs. Holloway, Sienna is actually—"
Sienna violently cut Finn off, practically dragging Eleanor toward the car by her arm.
"It's freezing out here! Let's just get back to the clinic!"
The moment Eleanor heard Sienna say she was cold, she instantly began unzipping her dark red jacket, insisting, "Here, darling, I run hot! Take my coat!"
"No, no, I'm fine! We just need to get in the car!"
Sienna pushed Eleanor's hands away, practically shoving the relentless, overly enthusiastic mother into the backseat to finally contain the chaos.
