I Stopped Loving Him When He Let Me Bleed Out novel Chapter 188

It was drizzling the day Quincy arrived.

Sienna stood near the entrance of the medical clinic, holding a clipboard, her peripheral vision locked on the reserve's main gates.

A tall, lanky man stepped out of a taxi.

He was wearing a thin dark gray jacket. His neck was long, and he looked considerably thinner than he had in the photos at Arthur's apartment.

Carrying only a single black backpack, he stepped out and immediately scanned the area with hyper-vigilant eyes.

Finally, his gaze landed on Sienna.

He paused for a fraction of a second.

Sienna walked over naturally, greeting him with bright enthusiasm:

"Hi there! Are you Arthur's family?"

Quincy narrowed his eyes, assessing her.

Arthur hurried out of the clinic and walked up to Quincy, clapping him on the shoulder with a huge smile.

Quincy looked up, a perfectly pleasant and natural smile replacing his guarded expression:

"Uncle."

Arthur introduced them.

Quincy turned to Sienna, his demeanor flawlessly polite:

"Dr. Sterling, thank you so much. My uncle's health hasn't been great, and I've been begging him to get a checkup, but he never listens. We really owe you for this one." His posture, tone, and choice of words were impeccable, completely refined.

Right then, Finn stepped out of a parked car.

Seeing Finn, Quincy faltered slightly:

"Finn? What are you doing here?"

Finn offered a brief wave.

"I'm visiting Arthur."

They weren't particularly close, so the conversation died quickly.

But Finn couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.

Sienna was entirely too warm toward Quincy.

Knowing Sienna the way he did, she was never this friendly to strangers.

Hell, she wasn't even this friendly to him.

While Sienna was chatting with Quincy about Arthur's health, Quincy's phone suddenly rang.

He instinctively shielded the screen with his hand and shot Sienna a wary look:

"Excuse me for a second. I need to take this."

Sienna smiled warmly. "Take your time."

But her eyes tracked his every move.

She noticed that the moment Quincy answered the phone, his entire demeanor shifted.

His voice dropped, his eyes softened, and a dopey smile tugged at his lips. He looked like he was coaxing someone, trying to please them.

It looked exactly like... a man deeply in love. Yes, only a man deep in the honeymoon phase of a relationship would have that idiotic, love-struck look on his face.

But hadn't Arthur said he was a committed bachelor?
