I Stopped Loving Him When He Let Me Bleed Out novel Chapter 187

Sienna froze, recalling the argument she had eavesdropped on earlier, and stayed quiet.

Arthur gave a forced, unnatural smile:

"It wasn't really anything major. I just missed you. And of course, there was the video. I've been meaning to show it to you in person for a long time."

Finn didn't suspect a thing and simply nodded.

"Then pack your things, Arthur. We can head over right now."

Sienna didn't add anything else, her grip tightening around her phone.

She had already added Maeve's contact info. She had successfully established a covert line of communication behind everyone's backs.

While Arthur went to pack his bags, Sienna didn't just stand around.

She studied the photos hanging on the wall. Most of them featured Arthur standing next to a younger man.

Was this Quincy?

She didn't notice that Finn's gaze was following her every move.

He looked as if he had been debating with himself for a long time before he finally spoke up:

"Sienna, these past few days, I've been obsessing over the same question. If I hadn't been dragged away that day... if I had been the one to answer that call, would things be different right now?"

Sienna didn't respond, her full attention fixed on the photos on the wall.

Thinking she was listening, Finn pressed on:

"I've finally figured it out. Nothing would have been different. Because the phone call wasn't the real problem. The problem was me. I was too cowardly to stand up to my family, too scared to make my own choices, and too weak to keep you. The fault was entirely mine."

He turned fully to face her.

"So, whether you've truly forgiven me or not, I need to thank you. Thank you for coming today. And thank you for saying 'it's all in the past.'"

Sienna finally snapped out of her thoughts:

"What was that?"

Finn's mouth opened slightly, the hopeful light in his eyes dying out in an instant:

"Did you... not hear anything I just said?"

Sienna had no desire to get tangled up in an emotional conversation with him and gave a dismissive nod:

"I heard you. And you're welcome."

Finn stared at her, his eyes swimming with hurt, caution, and a pathetic desperation he didn't even realize he was showing.

He squeezed his eyes shut, forcing his emotions down, and stayed quiet.

He could feel the sheer apathy radiating off her.

Had she really forgiven him?

Sienna picked up a picture frame to get a closer look.

In the photo, the man standing next to Arthur had sharp features, a handsome face, and a faint smile playing on his lips.

Paxton had said Quincy was thirty-seven.
