York sobbed uncontrollably, his tiny chest heaving. He shook his head frantically, biting down on his lip and refusing to speak.
Finn's voice dropped to a tense, demanding whisper.
"York! Tell me!"
Felicia couldn't bear to watch.
"Finn, stop pressuring the child."
Finn gently cupped the back of York's head, forcing the boy to look him in the eye.
"Tell me who did this. I will get justice for you. No matter who it is, you don't need to be afraid. I promise I won't let them get away with it."
Sienna looked at York, her heart breaking at the thought of a five-year-old enduring such unimaginable abuse in silence.
Pushed to his absolute breaking point, York finally wailed.
"Ford told me not to tell!"
Everyone's breath caught in their throats.
Sienna instinctively looked at Finn. Every drop of color drained from his face in an instant.
Felicia's hand, resting over her stomach, began to tremble violently.
The man York had named was her own husband. She ground her teeth, her eyes blazing with intense, undeniable hatred.
Even the usually spirited Maya fell completely silent, doing her best to blend into the background.
Silas casually lifted his teacup, took a measured sip, and set it down quietly. His hand remained perfectly steady.
When he looked up, his gaze locked solely on Sienna. He was analyzing her reaction.
The shock in Sienna's eyes lasted for only a fleeting second before being replaced entirely by the fierce professionalism and compassion of a seasoned physician.
In that moment, the deep-seated hatred she held for Ford and any lingering resentment connected to York seemed to evaporate.
She was nothing but a doctor fiercely concerned for a vulnerable young patient.
She carefully rolled up York's sleeve again, her fingertips hovering gently over the boy's bruised skin.
She meticulously examined every dark, violent mark from his shoulder down, then tenderly rolled the sleeve back down.
She took York's small, trembling fist and enveloped it warmly in both of her hands.
Then she stood up and looked directly at Silas.
"Mr. Hayes, I need to take York back to the hospital for a comprehensive medical exam. I'll need access to the radiology equipment. Is that permitted?"
Silas felt a surge of genuine admiration and respect for Sienna.
Yet, his face remained as inscrutable as ever.
"Make whatever arrangements you see fit."
