High-speed train tickets were incredibly hard to get.
After paying a massive premium, she finally managed to snag a ticket for two in the morning.
A six-hour journey from the capital to Riverdale.
She would arrive in Riverdale around tomorrow morning.
Sienna stayed awake almost the entire night, sitting in the train station and making call after call to figure out the situation, but she learned nothing.
Throughout all this, Lydia's calls kept coming in.
"Sienna, why aren't you back yet? We raised you all these years, and you're this cold-blooded? Are you just going to abandon us?"
Looking completely exhausted, she answered in a hoarse voice.
"I'm already on my way."
No one cared how agonizing this trip was for her.
Her mother was frantic.
"Did you call your connections? You did well in school, went to a top university, and even studied abroad. You must have classmates in high places. Use your network to pull Noah out! He's been locked up for a whole day; he won't be able to handle it."
"I don't have those kinds of connections. I'll get there and figure out the situation first."
"Sienna, do you just not want to help, or are you actually useless? We supported you for years, so step up and solve the problem!"
"Keep talking nonsense, and I'm hanging up," Sienna said coldly.
"It's because you pissed someone off that your brother is suffering! I criticize you for two seconds and—"
Sienna hung up without hesitation.
Her chest heaved with heavy breaths.
No matter how well she mentally prepared herself, her mother only needed a few words to trigger her emotions entirely.
She really wanted to get off at the next stop and turn right back around to the capital.
But she couldn't.
She wondered if Finn had felt this same agonizing conflict back then.
Finn was even worse off than her; at least she had clearly seen her parents' blatant sexism and toxic behavior.
But back then, Finn had still been deeply brainwashed by it all.
Swept up by his family's demands, he hadn't even entertained the thought of fighting back.
Everyone needed time to grow. Even someone as exceptionally brilliant in his field as Finn had his blind spots.
Sienna shook her head. Why was she thinking about Finn? Why was she making excuses for him?
