"Sienna, that car that dropped you off was seriously fancy. Who was that?"
"Don't ask questions you shouldn't be asking."
"It was Finn, wasn't it?"
Sienna shot Noah a cold glare.
"Why do you keep bringing him up?"
Noah shrank back. "I don't know anyone else here. I was just asking..."
Sienna's expression was deadly serious.
"He isn't my friend. You are not to mention him again, and I won't have anything to do with him from now on."
Noah agreed verbally.
But mentally, he muttered to himself. Finn really dropped the ball here. He had taken such a huge risk tipping Finn off, and the guy still couldn't seize the opportunity.
Their relationship seemed worse than before.
Sienna looked at him.
"Hurry up and head back to Riverdale in a couple of days. This is a one-bedroom apartment. It's not convenient for you to stay here."
Moreover, her lease was expiring soon, and she planned to find a place closer to the hospital.
"Noah, once you're done sightseeing, just go home."
Noah scratched his head.
"I can just sleep on the floor in the living room. Plus, I can do your laundry and clean the place."
He paused.
"I've been wandering around the last couple of days, and Metropolis is huge. It's so vibrant. No wonder you never want to go back. I don't want to go back either. I just finished my senior year exams, so I'm planning to apply to a university here. That way we can look out for each other."
Sienna had zero interest in his supposed 'looking out.'
But she didn't have the energy to argue right now. She had posted a rental inquiry on an alternate social media account, and several landlords and agents had left messages.
She messaged them one by one to inquire.
She already had a few viewings lined up for the next couple of days.
The next morning, the moment she arrived at the hospital, Caspar Young was waiting outside her on-call room.
"Dr. Sterling, Mr. Hayes asked me to give this to you. I'll text you the address shortly. Everything has been prepared, so you can just head over and move in after work."
Sienna looked at the set of keys Caspar held out but didn't take them.
"Caspar, I've already found an apartment right by the hospital. Please tell Director Hayes that I appreciate the gesture, but I won't be moving in."
Caspar looked conflicted.
"Dr. Sterling, you should know what Mr. Hayes means by this."
"Caspar, I need to get to work. Thanks for making the trip."
She turned and walked away, her heart hammering against her ribs. What if he got mad? No matter how politely she phrased it, she was still openly rejecting Director Hayes.
Would he fly into a rage and fire her?
