Sienna's heart skipped a beat.
"It's nothing."
"Sienna." Silas walked over, stopping right in front of her and staring down at her. "You don't have to pretend with me. Just say it."
Sienna remained silent for a few seconds.
"The living will... your father's living will. I saw it."
Silas's expression didn't change.
He pulled out a chair and sat down, gesturing for her to do the same.
Sienna took a seat, her eyes fixed on him.
"When he wrote that will, I was only twenty-three."
Silas leaned back in his chair, his gaze drifting out the window as if staring into the distant past. "He said he didn't want to be intubated, that he didn't want to live without dignity. I agreed to it."
Sienna didn't say a word.
"Later, he actually collapsed. A brain hemorrhage. By the time they rushed him to the hospital, he was already slipping away. We managed to resuscitate him, but he ended up like this."
Silas's voice dropped, laced with profound sorrow and helplessness.
"I know he didn't want to live this way, but I couldn't just watch him die."
He looked up, meeting Sienna's eyes.
"I'm his son."
At that moment, his Adam's apple bobbed, and his voice caught.
He sounded as though he were choking back a sob.
Sienna looked at him in surprise. This man, who was always so composed and completely in control around her, had suddenly laid bare his vulnerabilities.
In that instant, she was deeply moved.
For the very first time, Sienna reached out and took Silas's hand.
Silas squeezed it back.
They sat there holding hands in comfortable silence, their hearts feeling closer than ever.
Sienna didn't see the brief flash of calculation in Silas's lowered eyes, instantly replaced by the confident gleam of a man who had everything under control.

The next day, Finn woke up.
He propped himself up on the edge of the bed. His head was pounding terribly, like someone was driving a jackhammer directly into his temples.
Finn stayed quiet.
Lance hesitated for a second before finally voicing his thoughts.
"That statement you put out before, about the woman you wronged... that wasn't about Dr. Sterling, was it?"
Sasha paused mid-scoop, looking down at the bowls.
Finn lowered his eyes, staring at the water glass in his hand.
Condensation beaded on the glass, trickling down the sides and dripping onto his fingers, leaving a cold trail.
He didn't answer, but Lance already knew.
"You can't go on like this," Lance sighed heavily. "The two of them are officially together now."
"I know," Finn rasped. "I lost my temper yesterday. It won't happen again."
Lance patted Finn's shoulder and let the subject drop.
Sasha turned back to the kitchen to grab a few small side dishes. Only after arranging them on the table did she sit down beside them, keeping perfectly quiet.
Finn glanced at her.
"Thanks for everything. You have work to do, you should go focus on that."
