The airport, VIP lounge.
Silas sat on a plush sofa, a cup of coffee in hand, waiting for his flight back to the capital.
The business negotiations had gone spectacularly well, leaving him in a rare, expansive mood.
Caspar finished his phone call and approached. Silas casually asked, "What is it?"
Eager to claim the credit, Caspar lowered his voice and laid out the entire scheme.
"The property management has everything ready. Dr. Sterling is about to see Finn walk out of the opposite apartment with her own two eyes."
"Are you sure about this?" Silas asked, his tone cool.
Caspar was a meticulous man. He straightened his posture confidently.
"Rest assured, Boss. Every detail has been planned perfectly. Nothing will go wrong."
Silas's gaze drifted toward the tarmac outside the window.
Seeing the planes reminded him of Finn, which inevitably dragged up all the messy history of love and hatred between Sienna and the pilot he had unearthed.
They had started in their prime, sharing three fiercely passionate years.
It was a chapter of her life Silas could never replace.
The hardest pill to swallow was the rumor that Sienna had been the one to relentlessly pursue Finn back in the day.
He found it almost impossible to believe. How could someone as aloof and emotionally guarded as Sienna ever chase after a man?
What did it feel like to be the center of her obsessive affection?
Every time he thought about it, a dark wave of jealousy washed over him.
He was jealous that Finn had experienced a side of her he might never get to see.
"You mentioned earlier that Dr. Sterling will hate Finn because of this?"
Silas had initially brushed off such petty tactics.
But over the last few days of his business trip, Sienna hadn't initiated a single conversation.
They had just started dating. She shouldn't be this detached.
Wasn't this the same woman who supposedly knew how to aggressively pursue a man?
How could she be so oblivious to romance?
Every exchange involved him sending a message, and her merely responding to it.
It gnawed at Silas's pride.
Caspar recognized his employer's insecurity.
All he knew was that once this job was done, he could kick back and relax for a very long time.
The elevator doors slid open, and the two workers stepped out, carrying heavy toolboxes.
They stopped in front of Sienna's door and rang the bell.
After a few seconds, they hit it again.
The door swung open.
Sienna stood in the doorway, eyeing them suspiciously.
"Can I help you?"
The lead worker offered a polite smile and flashed his badge.
"Good evening, ma'am. Property management. We need to do a quick pipe inspection inside your unit. It'll only take a few minutes."
Sienna glanced at the badge, noting the official property seal, and stepped aside.
"Come in."
One worker stepped inside, while the other walked straight across the hall and rang the doorbell opposite hers.
Finn opened the door. He was in his loungewear, his hair still damp, clearly having just stepped out of the shower.
