The atmosphere instantly froze.
Silas stared at Sienna, entirely expressionless. Her words were completely out of left field.
In his entire life, he had never met a woman who dared to actively break up with him.
It was utterly absurd.
He thought for a moment before finally speaking.
"Sienna, what is it that you want?"
Sienna's fingers tightened on her lap, then slowly uncurled.
"I already told you. A breakup."
"No," Silas leaned forward slightly, his voice dropping into a dangerous register. "You paid back the money I sent you, and you canceled the school arrangement. You aren't doing this to break up with me. You're negotiating. Whatever it is you want, just say it directly. I've already told you, I really like you and I'm more than willing to provide for you. So, skip the games and just tell me."
Sienna looked at Silas.
She suddenly had the overwhelming urge to laugh.
He was still using his transactional logic to dissect her, convinced that behind every single action was a 'demand,' that everything was a negotiation, a bargaining chip.
"There is nothing I want from you anymore."
Sienna was just grateful she had seen the truth in time.
Silas didn't buy a word of it.
He leaned back in his chair, a knowing smirk floating back onto his lips, wearing the expression of a man who had completely seen through her bluff.
"At the end of the day, you're still just a little girl throwing a tantrum to test the relationship."
Hearing that, Sienna felt a suffocating weight slam into her chest.
She glared at Silas, enunciating every word.
"I am not a little girl, and I don't play testing games. You can stop psychoanalyzing me."
Silas shook his head.
"Then I genuinely don't understand what grounds you have for a breakup." His tone carried authentic confusion. "Have I treated you poorly? The things I can give you are things you could never achieve in your entire life, no matter how hard you worked. And you're still not satisfied?"
Sienna's eye twitched.
She could tell from the look on his face that he was dead serious. He genuinely believed he had been incredibly good to her, and that her leaving was entirely irrational.
But she was too exhausted to argue with him.
"You're absolutely right, Mr. Hayes. Since we've cleared the air, I'll be going now. Thank you for taking care of me these past few weeks."
Hearing that, Sienna felt every drop of blood in her body surge from her chest up to her neck, flushing her ears, and pounding fiercely against her temples.
Her temples throbbed violently. She grabbed the untouched glass of wine in front of her and hurled it directly into Silas's face.
The deep red liquid dripped down his cheeks, sliding past his jawline and soaking into his collar.
The dark stain bloomed across his light-colored dress shirt, expanding like a massive, ugly scar.
A few drops still clung to his eyelashes.
He didn't blink. He just sat there staring at Sienna, letting the wine run down his brow bone.
Only after she threw it did Sienna realize she had been completely blinded by rage.
She had actually thrown a drink in Silas's face?
Silas raised a hand, his thumb slowly wiping across his face.
From his brow to his cheekbone down to his chin, his movements were excruciatingly slow.
He smeared the wine, his soaked collar sticking to his skin, yet he didn't even flinch.
Silas stood up.
