Opening the door, she saw Noah crouched on the floor, an open suitcase next to him as he stuffed clothes inside.

"Sienna, you're back."

"What are you doing?"

Noah kept his head down as he zipped up the suitcase.

"Since the school stuff is sorted out, I'm going to head home for a bit and stay until the semester starts. I'm not really helping you out by staying here, and I can keep Mom company."

"Alright."

Sienna changed into her slippers and took the bag of books straight to her bedroom, making sure Noah didn't see them.

Noah stood up and righted his suitcase.

"Call me if you need anything."

He walked over to the door to put his shoes on. As he straightened up, he glanced back at her, his lips parting as if he wanted to say something, but he swallowed the words instead.

He opened the door and left, the latch clicking shut behind him.
