At the entrance of the complex, Sienna turned around and faced Finn.

"Finn, I'm in a terrible mood right now. Stop following me, and do not say another word to me. Otherwise, I can't guarantee I won't say something incredibly harsh."

Finn stopped in his tracks.

"I'm just heading the same way," he said. "I'm not following you."

"We aren't heading the same way." Sienna stared at him. "I'm not going back to Solstice Heights."

"Alright." Finn held his hands up in surrender and stayed put.

Sienna turned to leave, but before she could take a step, someone called out her name.

"Sienna? Is that really you?"

She turned her head and saw two women standing by the curb, carrying shopping bags and waving at her with bright smiles.

It took her a few seconds to recognize them as her former college roommates.

They hadn't seen each other since graduation, maintaining nothing more than a casual 'like' relationship on social media.

"What are you guys doing here?" Sienna asked, feeling a bit awkward.

"We work at the community clinic around here. Sienna, you had the best grades in our class, and we heard you even did your residency abroad! Where are you working now? It has to be a top-tier hospital, right?"

"I..." Sienna didn't know how to answer.

"Hello, ladies." Finn walked over, stepping naturally to Sienna's side.

One of the roommates' eyes lit up.

"Senior Fletcher? I saw you in the news! You're a decorated captain for Global Air, aren't you?"

"You're even more handsome in person," the other chimed in.

The two exchanged a look, their astonishment growing.

"Are you guys still together? Are you married? Do you have kids?"

He smoothly explained away the injury on her forehead, expertly crushing the gossip brewing in her roommates' minds.

The roommates clearly wanted to dig for more, but knowing when to stop, they held back.

"Let's add each other! You changed your number after graduation, and the class rep couldn't get ahold of you."

"You absolutely have to come to the class reunion next week." The other was already holding out her QR code. "Bring Senior Fletcher along, too. You two were the most famous couple between the medical and aviation schools!"

Sienna scanned the code and shoved her phone back into her pocket.

Only when the two women were out of sight did she let out a long sigh and turn to Finn.

"Thanks for bailing me out. I really do have somewhere to be. I'm leaving."

A bus conveniently pulled into the stop. She turned, boarded, swiped her card, and took a window seat.

As the bus pulled away, she saw Finn still standing in the same spot, the morning sun stretching his shadow long across the pavement.
