The Belvedere.
The three-thousand-square-foot penthouse boasted floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the entire city skyline at night.
It was Sienna Sterling's first time here. As she changed her shoes at the entryway, she noticed the slippers were brand new, the tags still attached.
Dinner had already been delivered and set up on the table, still steaming.
She sat down to eat while Finn Fletcher sat across from her, scrolling through his laptop as he picked at his food.
The glow of the screen sharply illuminated the contours of his brow bone. His eyes darted across the documents, his fork occasionally finding its way to a dish, as if his eyes and hands were operating entirely independent of one another.
Sienna kept her head down and focused on her meal, not wanting to disturb him.
She found it surprising that sitting in this massive living room didn't feel entirely foreign to her.
Perhaps the lighting was perfectly warm, or maybe it was because her favorite dishes were on the table. Or perhaps, with him sitting right across from her, she simply didn't feel the need to fill the silence with forced conversation.
Finn suddenly paused.
He stared at the screen, his brow furrowing.
"Dammit."
Sienna put down her plate.
"What's wrong?"
Finn turned the laptop toward her. The screen displayed a freshly pulled file, and at the very top of the page, a single line of text stood out: Actual Holding Entity—The Vance Family.
Sienna stared at the word, not registering it at first.
"The Vance family? What does that mean?"
Finn leaned back in his chair and tapped his finger lightly against the tabletop.
"Who do we know with the last name Vance?"
Sienna's brain finally clicked, and she blurted it out.
"Yolanda Fletcher?"
As soon as the words left her mouth, she realized her mistake.
