Henry was stunned. He had never seen his boss act like this.
For a moment, he didn't know how to respond.
Silas's gaze was still fixed out the window.
That slender figure had already walked away, disappearing with Finn around the corner, swallowed up by the dense shade of the sycamore trees.
His voice was remarkably soft.
"So this is what it looks like when she loves someone. Even from this far away, I can feel how happy she is. It seems Finn is the only one who can give her that happiness."
"Mr. Hayes..." Henry's voice carried a trace of uncertainty.
"It's not her fault she doesn't love me." Silas pulled his gaze back. "I should thank her for telling me the truth. She is a good woman, and through her, I finally learned what it actually means to love someone."
On the other side of the back seat, Felicia had been listening quietly all along.
She reached out and gently placed her hand over Silas's, finally breaking her silence.
"Silas, the fact that you can think this way shows you've truly let it go. I was worried you might end up resenting Sienna over this."
Silas offered a faint smile.
"Do I look like someone that petty?"
He glanced out the window again. Sienna and Finn were walking shoulder to shoulder, their shadows stretching long in the sunlight.
Leaning back against the leather seat, he turned to Henry.
"Sasha wants to take her down, but she won't succeed. Keep an eye on that situation. If she actually makes a move, don't stop her. Just gather all the evidence." He paused. "These younger Beaumonts have been causing far too much trouble lately. If they don't knock it off, I'll step in and clean them up on their elders' behalf."
Henry nodded. "Understood."
Silas turned to look at Felicia.
"Felicia, I'm going to take some time to really think about our father's situation."
Felicia's eyes trembled, and her rims instantly went red.
"Okay."
Over the next two weeks, Sienna stayed at Solstice Heights, spending her days at the interview prep center.
