I Stopped Loving Him When He Let Me Bleed Out novel Chapter 564

"Then let's eat together."

"Great!" Georgina said happily.

Georgina picked a cozy little restaurant near the campus.

When Lydia walked in, she looked visibly displeased with the modest setting.

Georgina sat next to Noah, while Lydia took the seat across from them.

Before the food even arrived, the interrogation began.

"What does your family do?"

Holding her water glass, Georgina answered honestly.

"My grandpa used to be a professor, but he's retired now."

"And your parents?"

"My dad is overseas, and my mom... passed away."

Lydia's expression iced over. Her eyes lingered on Georgina's face for a second before sliding away, her tone instantly dropping several degrees.

"So your family's financial situation is pretty average, then?"

Noah frowned deeply.

"Mom, why are you asking these things?"

"What's wrong with asking? I'm not being malicious," Lydia didn't even look at him, keeping her eyes fixed on Georgina. "Little girl, a young woman from a poor family needs to work hard on her own. You can't just rely on other people to carry you through life."

Georgina's fingers tightened around her glass, but her face remained composed.

"I understand, Mrs. Cross. I work very hard."

"Glad you understand." Lydia picked up some food, chewed twice, set her chopsticks down, and casually delivered a devastating blow. "My Noah might not come from extreme wealth, but he's a proper university student with a bright future. You better not hold him back."

Georgina was completely paralyzed with shock.
