I Stopped Loving Him When He Let Me Bleed Out novel Chapter 93

When Sienna woke up that morning, she habitually reached for her phone.

She had been so exhausted the night before that she went to bed early and put her device on airplane mode, only turning it off now.

The screen lit up as a flood of notifications poured in, and she swiped through them one by one.

There was a red notification dot on her contacts tab, so she tapped it.

Two new friend requests.

Both from the same person, whose profile picture was an empty airport runway.

The first note read: "Sienna, it's Finn. I have so much I want to say to you. I want to explain exactly what happened back then."

The second read: "Sienna, I'm begging you. I miss you so much. Please add me? Just take pity on me."

Sienna stared at the two messages, her finger hovering over the screen.

The glow of the phone illuminated her features. She could hear her own breathing—soft, yet strikingly loud in the quiet morning room.

She flipped the phone over, placing it face-down on her mattress.

She walked into the bathroom to wash up.

The cold water splashing against her face snapped her back to reality.

Looking down at the faint scar on her wrist, she remembered Finn's brutal words: 'If you want to die, then die.'

She remembered that Finn and Chloe shared a child.

She remembered running into their little family of three at the boutique, his icy demeanor, and the cutting remarks he had made.

Even though Finn had helped her navigate her recent career crisis, it could never erase the deep wounds he had inflicted on her.

God only knew what had possessed him to send those pathetic messages.

But regardless, there was no way they could ever be friends in this lifetime.

The fact that she didn't consider him a sworn enemy was already a testament to her grace.

With that thought, Sienna marched back, picked up her phone, and decisively tapped 'Decline' on both requests.

Both of them, flatly rejected.

Clean, simple, and leaving zero room for interpretation.

Finally, she tossed her phone into her bag and headed out to work.

The ER shift change happened at eight in the morning.

Sienna slipped into her white coat and accepted the handover notes from the night-shift doctor.

"Bed 3, brought in a little after 1 AM. Alcohol poisoning, facial soft-tissue contusions, swelling around the left orbit, bruising on the cheekbone, and a lacerated lip.

Patient stated he was slapped with significant force. The CT scan showed no intracranial hemorrhage, but his left eardrum is congested. He needs observation and might require admission." The doctor closed the file. "Also, he kept asking who was on duty today."

Sienna flipped through the chart without lifting her head.

"I'll take it from here."

"Add me back, please?"

His voice was so raspy it was barely a whisper.

Sienna crouched to retrieve the chart, flipped to the next page, and spoke with the detached tone she reserved for strangers.

"I don't add irrelevant strangers on social media. If you have something to say, just say it."

"I want to pursue you."

Sienna's pen stopped moving.

She lifted her gaze and shot him a cold look.

"You are experiencing altered consciousness due to alcohol poisoning. You will stay for observation. We'll have a specialist consult on your eardrum tomorrow. No food or water today."

She lowered her head and resumed writing, her strokes perfectly steady.

A soft cough sounded from the doorway.

Xavier stood there holding an insulated food bag, sporting a polished, socially-acceptable smile.

He walked in enthusiastically.

"Dr. Sterling, hello. I'm Finn's friend, Xavier." He paused, letting his tone grow serious. "I've known him for over a decade, and I have never seen him like this. He drank all night yesterday, downing bottle after bottle, and no one could stop him. He's not putting on an act. He is in genuine agony."

Sienna glanced at him without a shred of emotion.
